Ah, Nyil, with its magic, its monsters, and its petty gods. A divine spat leaves French medic Viv stranded in the middle of an arcane disaster zone crawling with undead horrors. Thankfully, there are strange allies to be found, not least the mysterious interface that helps humans survive in this merciless world. Viv will have to progress fast to survive this calamity and find civilisation. She will also need a bit of luck. Unless, of course, she becomes the calamity herself. After all, luck is such a fickle thing.

An excellent first trip to Nyil

I'll be honest, I did get my copy from the author for free. But it still really enjoyed it and it is some of their best work. It's a fun story about someone getting dropped into a fantasy world, but instead of in some wizard's summoning circle, she gets dropped in magical ground zero and has to work very hard and with whatever she can get to survive and escape. All while meeting delightful weirdos and learning about magic. Great stuff and can't wait to see the rest if the series.

Well worth the wait

Loved the first 2 audiobooks that after I listened to those I went and bought the rest of the series in text. Still a great story, but Kemp really sells it. The accent, the tones, and the emotion he puts in it is really awesome. Much better experience and can't wait for the rest of the series.

Really liked it. The good narration adds so much to a title and it was well done hear. Can't wait for the next book and hope we see a book 4 soon.

Great continuation

This is one of the few series that I've read the written copy first and still gotten the audio version. Continues where we left off and expands on the world and Cal's struggle to find a place for himself in it with his unusual magic. Lots of clever and interesting ways he figures out problems and solutions. Also, Jeremy does a great job voicing it. I especially like how he does Chester.
