Remarkable character development and execution.

It seems like a long listen but now that I look back, I was always engaged and the plot kept me entertained. How timely is the book and brings out the ghost of Christmas future if we are not careful.

Historia
People say Beartown is finished. A tiny community nestled deep in the forest, it is slowly losing ground to the ever encroaching trees. But down by the lake stands an old ice rink, built generations ago by the working men who founded this town. And in that ice rink is the reason people in Beartown believe tomorrow will be better than today. Their junior ice hockey team is about to compete in the national semifinals, and they actually have a shot at winning.

A little slice of small town.
Revisado: 08-29-23
As a military brat I never had the opportunities of living in the same place. But every time we went to visit my grandparents, I was surrounded by some of the same experiences in Beartown. This book, its reading and writing took me home and reminded me it’s always about relationships. School, parent/child sports and community but relationships nonetheless. I loved it.

Historia
This is the first volume in a bold new series that tells the stories of all peoples, connecting historical events from Europe to the Middle East to the far coast of China, while still giving weight to the characteristics of each country. Susan Wise Bauer provides both sweeping scope and vivid attention to the individual lives that give flesh to abstract assertions about human history. This narrative history employs the methods of "history from beneath" - literature, epic traditions, private letters, and accounts - to connect kings and leaders with the lives of those they ruled.

A history worth remembering
Revisado: 06-08-23
I’m an audible fan and this written history was both fascinating and captivating in its storytelling and delivery. It makes one wonder how our past 200 years of American history will be remembered.

Historia
For months, Mitch Rapp has been steadily working his way through a list of men, bullet by bullet. With each kill, the tangled network of monsters responsible for the slaughter of 270 civilians becomes increasingly clear. He is given his next target: a plump Libyan diplomat who is prone to drink and is currently in Paris without a single bodyguard. Rapp finds him completely unprotected and asleep in his bed. With confidence in his well-honed skills and conviction of the man’s guilt, he easily sends a bullet into the man’s skull. But in the split second it takes the bullet to leave the silenced pistol, everything changes.

Some of the reviews were less than stellar but I thought it was brilliant - every word and chapter. I hope the remainder of the Rapp series is just as captivating.
