Historia
To all appearances, Dan Chase is a harmless retiree in Vermont with two big mutts and a grown daughter he keeps in touch with by phone. But most 60-year-old widowers don't have multiple driver's licenses, savings stockpiled in banks across the country, and a bugout kit with two Beretta Nanos stashed in the spare bedroom closet. Most have not spent decades on the run.

Historia
Eccentric, reclusive Walter Rennert lies cold at the bottom of his stairs. At first glance the scene looks straightforward: a once-respected psychology professor done in by booze and a bad heart. But his daughter, Tatiana, insists that her father has been murdered, and she persuades Clay Edison to take a closer look at the grim facts of Rennert's life. What emerges is a history of scandal and violence and an experiment gone horribly wrong that ended in the brutal murder of a coed.

Good read

This is a quality detective story. It does follow the Alex Delaware form but that is not a bad thing. I did figure out the story about 1/3 the way in but listening to the solution was entertaining.

Not really believable
Revisado: 01-26-14
Natalie Ross should NEVER read a book that requires a character speaking with a southern accent. No one talks like that anywhere in the South. Well maybe in Mayberry but no place real. And please, a Georgia Bureau of Investigation detective who cannot read! I make it all the way through this stupid little story. I deserve a medal.

About 1/4 way through this book I could not figure out why I was still listening to it. To say that it is adolescent pablum was insulting to adolescents. I hung in as long as I could 1/2 way then left and started listening to the newest Nelson DeMille to purge this nonsense from my system.
