The saga continues in the third of Hodge's Syndicate novels. Follow along on the strange ride of Dr. Zander Ride as he navigates the truth about himself and his family. Monique Bagwell again turns in an amazing performance - as narrator, she's easy to follow and enjoyable to the ear, and there's even a hint of noir in her narration that goes perfectly with the story's underlying darkness. Her characterizations bring the story's characters to life with masterful use of accent and voice technique, and make the pictures in your head come to vivid life. It's a thrilling story, well-performed, that will have you wanting to hear what happens next. Check this one out (but for maximum enjoyment, listen to "Red on the Run" and "Black and White Truth" first!).

If you liked the action and suspense of "Red on the Run" you'll enjoy "Black and White Truth," which continues the Syndicate saga (and it goes without saying that if you listen to "Red on the Run" first, you'll get a lot more out of "Black and White Truth"). Ride along as journalist Jason Knettle tries to tell a story, but gets more than he bargained for. Hang on, because once the action starts, it's a wild ride.

As with her work on "Red on the Run," Monique Bagwell turns in another wonderful performance as narrator. Her effective use of voice and accent bring the characters to life and turn them into people that engage you and that you care about, while her narration of the action moves things ahead in a way that engages the mind and is very pleasing to the ear. Between the action-packed story and the great narration, you won't want to hit "pause" on "Black and White Truth." I'm already looking forward to what's ahead....

I found myself surprised with how quickly and compellingly the action ramps up in "Red On The Run," and like another reviewer I faced the problem of not wanting to turn it off when other things in life intervened (and I'm almost considering a ten-hour road trip just so I can listen to this recording nonstop). It's a suspenseful story that draws you in and has you holding on more quickly than you realize.

What makes this audiobook particularly compelling is Monique Bagwell's effective narration. Her smooth, steady storytelling conveys just the right sense of suspense, drama, action, excitement, worry...whatever mood a scene calls for, she weaves it with just the right touch. And her skillful personification of characters brings them to life in your mind's eye as real and believable people that you care about. Monique's narration makes a thrilling story even more compelling. You'll like this one, so check it out.
