I enjoyed this George and Lou adventure. It's a straight continuation of the previous two Wolf Hunt books. I can't say this is the best of them, as I think the first one is; however it's a great book in it's own right and certaintly not out of place.

The narrator Scott Thomas is absolutely outstanding once again. He owns the the voices of the characters now. He's a narrator I look for and buy books just because he's the narrator.

Overall I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves horror or loves dark humour. Brilliant.

First off I will say that this was a good book, well written and the first book I've read from author Jeff Johnston.

The loose story is based around a Reverand and his family in a small town, which has recently been struck by a spat of brutal killings. Soon the Rev. and his family are caught in the middle.

As mentioned already the story is pretty good, and there were a few positive surprises in the book. However, I thought by the end the story was dragging a little and the ending was pretty predictable. The other thing I will mention is that there seemed to be a lot of "preechy" writing in the book. I know the main character was a holy man, but many characters in the book seemed to be "having internal conversations with God", it seemed a bit much.

The book was naratted by Edison McDaniels. He does have a voice that reminded me of Droopy the Dog, but that isn't a bad thing. He suited the book and reads well.

This is the second short story collection I have listened to recently from Brian Lumley, the other being A Coven of Vampires. This collection was throughly enjoyable, each and every one of the stories was good with some being brilliant. I especially liked the stories "The Picnicers" and "The Pit Yakker" the feeling of tension and dread was great. I love the way Lumley writes, you can feel that some of these stories were written in the 70's and they contain that UK vibe of the post-WWII generation to them.

The book is narrated by Joshua Saxon, he also narrated Lumley's previous collection. He is absolutely brilliant. I thought he was good previously, but here he really showed his quality showcasing a wide range of voices which fit brilliantly and actually made the stories better, including several American characters in which I couldn't be sure whether or not he was actually born there!

I can't recomment this book and it's narrator highly enough.

This is a collection of short stories based around vampires. I love short horror stories in general, as it's easy to listen to one complete story in any one sitting; and having been a long-time fan of Lumley's vampire series Necroscope, so I thought this would be an interesting listen. The good news here is that these stories are all very well written as you would expect from Brian Lumley, and the stories are both interesting and wide ranging, geographically and in the various types of vampires presented in the stories (not all are like in the Necroscope series). Some stories are simply based around vampyric themes whereas others are more straightforward and standard vampire stories with common vampire lore. Not all the stories are great, though most are good and only a couple are duds (In my opinion).

The narrator Joshua Saxon does a fine job covering the voices of the characters contained within the tales. He handled everything from the modern to the ancient seamlessly and I never for once was distracted by his performance. I find the best narrators are the ones you simply don't notice are there, as if you are reading the stories and not actually listening to them; Joshua managed to do just that. He is certainly a narrator that I would listen to again.

Overall I would recommend this book to even the most casual fan of vampire lore, it's very entertaining and well worth your time.

The book starts off ok, but a bit too predictable and clichéd. After a few chapters in however the book opens up and becomes quite good, with some good twists and less predictability. The story was good, the characters were well fleshed out and the ended of the book was quite intense.

The narrator Neil Hellegers was fine, he wasn’t overbearing and didn’t distract from the story.

This is a very good book in its own right, but the audiobook production was stellar. A great example of how a really well read/produced audiobook can push what would otherwise be a good book to another level. The atmosphere is spooky and eerie throughout, it's a tale of vampires and werewolves and a creepy old castle. The vibe is brooding and the sound effects along with a full cast audio helps bring that sense of danger and dread to the forefront.

I would gladly listen to more such produced audiobooks.

Wonderful early Clive Barker work

I am a big fan of Clive Barker, I remember reading this book some years ago, and was interesting to hear it again now. It's a very good story and shows off the incredible imagination Barker had (at least in his earlier works!). Boone, the protagonist, is a tortured soul... he runs away from his mental demons and meets up with very real demons, both human and supernatural.

The book is short and Barker doesn't really go into dept or any deep backstory on the many characters we encounter, which is a shame as some are fascinating and the reader is left wanting to know more. A sequel would be great!

Chet Williamson did a good job with the narration, slow and steady nothing too animated.

These short stories were average at best. Didn't find them particulary scary nor gripping. With most of the stories the outcome was fairly obvious from the beginning, this is really off putting. In addition the narrator was poor in my opinion. He just didn't fit with the stories.

I was rather disappointed by this short story collection. A couple of the stories were reasonably interesting, but the rest were boring and not really frightening or scary at all.

Joe Hempel is a narrator I quite like overall and he did his best to bring out the best of the stories contained in this collection, and I think he succeeded with that quite well.

A Tribute to 70's Cannibal Movies

Revisado: 09-17-18

The book is basically a tribute to the various Italian cannibal B-movies from the late 70's early 80's. Overall it's fairly tongue-in-cheek and despite it being fairly gruesome it isn't taking itself too seriously. The plot, characters and circumstances they find themselves in is as loose and far fetched as one would expect from any good b-movie, and It is a fairly quick read.

Joe Hempel was great as narrator as he usually is, and seemed to find the wacky tone of the book very well.
