Historia
At the end of the world, a groundbreaking scientific experiment will change everything. Dr. Laura Reynolds had it all. A job she loved. The respect of her peers. Student debt she was slowly chipping away at. And one day, it all went away. She saw the wrong thing—a colleague's mistake. And to escape, he framed her. Laura's only option is to join a secretive research project in Antarctica, where she hopes to keep practicing medicine and one day get her life back. But soon after arriving, she realizes that things aren't what they seem in this advanced facility.

Entertaining but nothing new
Revisado: 04-13-24
For A.G. Riddle I thought we would go much deeper in the science of the human mortality as in The Atlantis World... but it was a good listen with interesting characters ... (though at times more stereotypical and predictable).. Not A.G.'s best but that's because I have read his best when he has incorporated science and his soul.

Historia
The narrator of Atwood's riveting novel calls himself Snowman. When the story opens, he is sleeping in a tree, wearing an old bedsheet, mourning the loss of his beloved Oryx and his best friend Crake, and slowly starving to death. He searches for supplies in a wasteland where insects proliferate and pigoons and wolvogs ravage the pleeblands, where ordinary people once lived, and the Compounds that sheltered the extraordinary. As he tries to piece together what has taken place, the narrative shifts to decades earlier. How did everything fall apart so quickly?

Shangri-la of Sci-fi.. (a must listen to)
Revisado: 02-04-23
This is one of the better works of sci-fi that I have read (listened). It is well crafted, and the author is sublime in creating this world of the near future and very complex characters. The narrator is excellent - full of emotion and projecting a range of diverse characters.

good syfy adventure
Revisado: 10-02-22
Decent plot but not unheard-of. Sometimes the characters belabor an obvious issue to the point where it becomes unbelievable. Great work the author does in showing the passage of time (a sense of melancholy in knowing loved ones will pass as you watch).

Historia
Thirty years after Douglas Coupland broke the fiction mould and defined a generation with Generation X, he is back with Binge, 60 stories laced with his observational profundity about the way we live and his existential worry about how we should be living: the very things that have made him such an influential and bestselling writer. Not to mention that he can also be really funny.

Great work of cultural insight and detail
Revisado: 08-27-22
Couplands eye for the general western narrative of the subnorms is sharp... yet lacks depth of ethnic diversity.

Historia
Half a century ago, an aberration was spotted by one of our earliest satellites, and summarily dismissed as a hardware malfunction. But it was no aberration. And no malfunction. It was an accidental glimpse of something extraordinary, and very old. Mocked for decades, the man who designed the satellite is now dead. With the system's original data firmly in the hands of former NTSB investigator Joe Rickards and anthropologist Angela Reed.

This is a good syfy with the author wavering between average and great periods of writing... the characters are 1 dimensional and stereotypical at times. The science and history are great... Lastly (no need for the plane hi-jack).

Good read no surprises
Revisado: 12-20-21
This is a fun syfy read but there aren't any novel surprises or creative concepts. Also it's hard to believe that 40k hasn't evolved beings more than what they are (no spoilers)... the author does avoid belaboring points and over-detailing unlike some books. I will read the next in the series... so it is that good.

Very engrossing story
Revisado: 09-05-21
Great read the author keeps the interest of this mysterious mountain. The only issue was the simplicity and convenience in blowing the ship up. It was a little too easy to set the alien self destruction system by a human that did not even understand Rock-squid (language). Other than that Sigler is funny and creates great characters that have human flaws and demons from their past.

Stereotypical Racial Overtones
Revisado: 09-03-21
In terms of syfy plot not so bad but the racial myths of the well endowed exotic black man underline the story... down to the common narrative of the beautiful blonde and the big black man(insert King Kong metaphor and how at times how Richard is so sexy when he is savage and beastly)... forbidden love. After all its as if the chancellor fell for the driver (he was the ship's pilot). Great syfy concepts but the author really needs to study African American history, racial stereotypes, and white privilege.

Not a complicated plot... but if you want an easy listen packed with action then this will work. For character depth you need to read the other previous books... this may be the least out of the 3 thus far.
