Historia
This mind-bending tour of metaphysics applies philosophy to the forefront of today's knowledge. Over the course of 24 fascinating lectures, Professor Johnson thinks through the big questions about humans and the universe: The relationship between the mind and the brain, how consciousness emerges from neurochemical processes, the existence of God, human free will, the possibility of time travel, and whether we live in a multiverse or even a computer simulation.

One of the most biased Great Courses
Revisado: 03-03-24
This is the worst Great Courses work I’ve ever listened to. The speakers goal was not to inform or teach but engage in punditry.

Woody Holton upends what we think we know of the Constitution's origins by telling the history of the average Americans who challenged the framers of the Constitution and forced on them the revisions that produced the document we now venerate.

Lots of data and wrong interpretations.
Revisado: 06-20-23
Excellent research. But left-populist bias permeates every line and offers nothing but straw men as the arguments against his thesis.

Historia
Miss Pettigrew is a down-on-her-luck, middle-aged governess sent by her employment agency to work for a nightclub singer rather than a household of unruly children. Over a period of 24 hours, as she becomes caught up in the life of Delysia LaFloss, her own life is changed - forever. This charming, funny, light-hearted 1938 novel was a bestseller on its first appearance. Read by Academy Award winning actress Frances McDormand, who stars in the 2008 film as Miss Pettigrew.

Unexpectedly racist
Revisado: 11-22-22
There are several passages which I’m sure no one thought of at the time, but which have aged remarkably poorly.

Historia
Stories of Your Life and Others presents characters who must confront sudden change-the inevitable rise of automatons or the appearance of aliens-while striving to maintain some sense of normalcy. In the amazing and much-lauded title story (the basis for the 2016 movie Arrival), a grieving mother copes with divorce and the death of her daughter by drawing on her knowledge of alien languages and non-linear memory recollection.

Fascinating
Revisado: 04-14-18
Would you consider the audio edition of Stories of Your Life and Others to be better than the print version?
This book was exceptionally thought provoking. Uusually work that deals in asking questions of a metaphysical or epistemological nature tends to be very dry, but these stories avoided that all too common pitfall and allowed you to question fundamental assumptions of life without becoming dull or lecturing.
