Historia
This book is pragmatic, not philosophical; a practical manual, not a treatise upon theories. It is intended for the men and women whose most pressing need is for money, who wish to get rich first, and philosophize afterward. It is for those who have, so far, found neither the time, the means, nor the opportunity to go deeply into the study of metaphysics, but who want results and who are willing to take the conclusions of science as a basis for action, without going into all the processes by which those conclusions were reached.

Catchy title but no substance!
Revisado: 09-22-17
What would have made The Science of Getting Rich better?
More engaging substance to really help the listener/reader rather than a bunch of words strung up together to sell more volumes!
Has The Science of Getting Rich turned you off from other books in this genre?
yes
Would you listen to another book narrated by Edward Elgood?
I did not mind his narration. I would like to try another book by him.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Science of Getting Rich?
everything but the preface/introduction should be cut and restructured!

An interesting essay on America's Independence
Revisado: 08-23-17
Would you listen to Common Sense again? Why?
I would listen to this audio book again - in fact, I repeated the first chapter (and quite a bit of text) frequently as the language was difficult (and old!). I am not sure if this is to the book's advantage or not, but every time I started it I would feel drowsy.
If you’ve listened to books by Thomas Paine before, how does this one compare?
I have not
Which character – as performed by Jeff Moon – was your favorite?
There was only the author's character performed as far as I can tell.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No

Not helpful at all!
Revisado: 07-30-17
What would have made Something Beautiful better?
More substance and less throwing in a mix of "yoga, meditation and antidepressants" all over this book. I did enjoy the songs through. Having actual recordings of the music suggested at the end of each chapter would have made it very a different and perhaps pleasurable experience.
What was most disappointing about Courtney Roberts’s story?
She tried too hard not to sound like she is boasting, I guess. However, she came off as a failure that should be reading a better version of the book, rather than writing it herself.
How could the performance have been better?
The narrator was perfectly matched for the book- which made her just as disappointing at times when I wanted to find more sincerity and actual advice rather than a string of words.
What character would you cut from Something Beautiful?
I would not recommend the entire book. It is non fiction - therefore no characters.

Short but not so sweet!
Revisado: 07-30-17
What did you like best about Smoking Mountain? What did you like least?
I liked the fact that the story flowed well and I felt myself getting emotionally involved with it, specially the deaths of Mr. Brook's wife and brother. I also like how the entire novel is his monologue in the form of a letter he is writing to his baby daughter. However, I felt that the story lacked substance and the environmental aspect was not emphasized enough to leave a strong impression on me. I enjoyed the bits about his love for the land and I could see myself there but I needed more to truly feel his passion for it.
Would you ever listen to anything by William Graham again?
I enjoyed the easy style of writing and might give another book a try, if it were popular.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Michael Piotrasch?
Yes, I enjoyed his narrative tremendously as he gave life to the character of Mr. Brooks and I would be very interested in listening to another book by him.
Was Smoking Mountain worth the listening time?
The fact that it is a novella (therefore short) was this book's boon and bane. If it had been any longer, there would have probably been more space for discussing environmental aspects and really making that link with the story of these generations living off the land. However, if the author would not have gone down that road and had simply expanded the descriptions of Brooks' life and so on, then it would have made me score the book even lower.

Discovering a new world - Anuta!
Revisado: 07-25-17
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I believe that the structure of the book was pretty much like a text book, which is why I felt that it covered uninteresting aspects of the life their in detail, while some of the parts I would have like to explore more, were briefly described. I would have enjoyed it more if it focused more on drawing comparisons between western lifestyles and the lifestyle of the Anutans.
What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?
It was a very interesting topic because we often do not get to learn about new cultures and new people, so I really appreciated this opportunity. The style of writing was easy and accessible and I often felt that the delivery of the narrator was on point when conveying feelings of surprise, shock and affection.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
I often felt that the delivery of the narrator was on point when conveying feelings of surprise, shock and affection. I disliked that the narrator seemed to be pulling some words (saying them in slow motion) at certain intervals.
Do you think Anuta, Second Edition needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
It would be interesting to see how they have adapted to globalisation and the internet and all the benefits (and harms) of technology. Maybe a 2017 follow up would be interesting to draw conclusions about the effects of advancement in technology on a seemingly happy community.

Historia
There are not, I say, many people who would care to sleep in a church. A great multitude of persons will be violently astonished, I know, by this position, in the broad bold day. But it applies to night. It must be argued by night, and I will undertake to maintain it successfully on any gusty winter's night appointed for the purpose, with any one opponent chosen from the rest, who will meet me singly in an old churchyard, before an old church-door; and will previously empower me to lock him in, if needful to his satisfaction, until morning.

Another Christmas story... A Christmas Carol 2.0?
Revisado: 07-08-17
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I found that I could only listen comfortably at a speed 20% slower than the original narrator's (I listened at x0.8 rather than x1.0). Of course this made the book longer than the originally planned hours but I chose to pick understanding the content rather than just getting through the book.
I was given a free copy in return of a fair and unbiased review by Audiobook Boom.
What do you think your next listen will be?
I have already opted for something slightly more historical as I think it will be easier to follow without the different characters in the original speed.
How could the performance have been better?
The narrator should have had a slower and more natural speed to allow for easier understanding and to avoid manually changing the speed while listening
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I enjoyed the fact that the narrator used different local accents for the characters in the book. Not only did it help me identify them easier, but it also added to the authenticity of the book and times.
Any additional comments?
It is another Christmas story that is very much similar to A Christmas Carol but with a theme related to class differences - a favorite theme of Charles Dickens, I think. However, I felt that it did not really charm me the way his other classics have. I am not sure whether the reason is that I am listening to it in the middle of July or the actual content and style of it.
