Historia
Aurora del Valle suffers a brutal trauma that erases from her mind all recollection of the first five years of her life. Raised by her ambitious grandmother, the regal and commanding Paulina del Valle, she grows up in a privileged environment, free of the limitations that circumscribe the lives of women at that time, but tormented by horrible nightmares. When she is forced to recognize her betrayal at the hands of the man she loves, and to cope with the resulting solitude, she decides to explore the mystery of her past.

Historia
Anthony Fauci is arguably the most famous–and most revered–doctor in the world today. His role guiding America sanely and calmly through Covid (and through the torrents of Trump) earned him the trust of millions during one of the most terrifying periods in modern American history, but this was only the most recent of the global epidemics in which Dr. Fauci played a major role. His crucial role in researching HIV and bringing AIDS into sympathetic public view and his leadership in navigating the Ebola, SARS, West Nile, and anthrax crises, make him truly an American hero.

Dr Fauci's dedication over his decades-long career.
Revisado: 07-05-24
Hearing Dr Fauci narrate this story was like having him sit in your living room or at your dining table and share stories about his career and the challenges he faced. I was most taken with his work on HIV-AIDS as I clearly remember the early 1980's when its effects were taking place, especially in large cities. On Call is a history book of sorts as Dr Fauci served as a public servant during various outbreaks that had varying degrees of success. It proves to me that allowing and using science to advance the truth in partisan situations is tantamount to our survival. Thank you Dr Fauci for telling us the truth and for genuinely caring for us during a difficult time.

Historia
Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.

A US History Lesson
Revisado: 04-05-21
A Promised Land should be required reading for all high schools' history requirements. An amazing story of President Obama's road to the White House. I especially enjoyed the details and the President's thinking about major events during that time. His caution, mindfulness, empathy, and willingness to reflect on past decisions cannot be disputed. I also bought the hardback version so I can refer back to some of the events during that time.
