a very weird ending
Revisado: 08-02-24
I understand the author wanted to make a dramatic ending the way in which he did was very strange. I think it was very much a cheap way of ending the book not to mention offensive to billions of people around the world.

Excellent character development and descriptions.
Revisado: 03-16-24
The author creates an inspiring story that makes you feel for the "fringe". The author also creates well rounded characters that you may expect in a series like this, not some wacko, crazy character but relatable and likeable characters. I also applaud the author in his avoidance of sexual content or a ridiculous amounts of foul language. I would say its PG-13 which is just fine. Too many authors are substituting good writing with curse words and bedroom action.

Will Tries to Outdo Himself
Revisado: 08-16-22
I don't mind a helpless situation or a good fantasy idea for a world. I liked the first book, slightly odd but I could swing it. The second just lost me. It seems there is always something bigger and badder around the next corner. No matter what the protagonists do, there is always some big next reveal...each chapter. There is not enough character development and because of that, the book is filled with one disaster after another to fill the pages.
After reading Will's other stories, I think its just his style of constantly something worse and no character development. Unfortunately, this will be my last book of his.

Unnecessary Statments and Political Wokeness
Revisado: 05-18-22
I have listened to all of these books in this series over the last couple of months. I really liked it until this one. As another reviewer stated, there is wokeness in here. Men and women are not the same, they can do many of the same things, women are better at some things and men at another. Then, when you take Camu and throw in the you can choose whatever you want to be (boy or girl)...that's not biology. Every animal I can think of (which is a lot) knows what sex they are, whether we as humans see what we expect or not.
Every male character in this is seen as weak or an overbearing idiot who thinks with his muscles (and other parts) and not his brains. I was happy to see the King of the West gain some strength but then you took Gyrd and Viggo ans made them mentally, emotionally weak - countering your bios. It is sad to see this in this latest installment. Sadly, this will be my last book of this series.
The narrator did a great job as usual!

Historia
Geary believed in the Alliance. Even when he uncovered overwhelming evidence that the highest echelons of the government and fleet command were involved in secret programs and prison camps, he believed it was worth saving. He believed his duty was to see that justice was served even though some factions feared that revealing the truth would cause the Alliance to crumble. But after narrowly surviving two assassination attempts when he brings evidence of the misdeeds to the capital star system, Geary realizes that some want to get rid of him.

Not the best book in the series but definitely sets the series up for good follow-on books. I feel like this was a necessary book to establish the next storyline for several more books. Looking forward to it, Jack!

Historia
It's a mission that only Striker - the military arm of Op-Center - can handle: capture an Islamic cleric who is stirring up a rebellion against the Indian government. But when the border between India and Pakistan erupts, the Striker team gets caught in the crossfire. Now America's most proficient covert team is trapped in a full-fledged war. Their fate rests in the hands of a devious NSA double agent whose own agenda is unknown - a man who could just as easily sell them out as set them free. This book is an implicit profile of America's defense, intelligence, and crisis management technology....

Good Idea, Terrible Execution
Revisado: 03-13-21
I really liked the story line but it was just terribly written and executed. 3/4 of the Stryker team being neutralized by flak, really? Why does each book include one of them dying? They are supposed to be the best of the best.
Terribly written "leadership" and decisions. Maybe the author should spend some more time actually talking to military personnel and not writing about them. Clip instead of magazine, really? I'm done with this series.

Fantastic Addition to the Series
Revisado: 06-10-20
At first with the creation of this branch off I wasn't sure but like Skippy says, trust the awesomeness. After all I am a smelly monkey, anyway, so I gave Mavericks a shot and Skippy was right. I loved it. When the second one came out I was nervous.
I mean, how many times have we seen the movies that are sequels that honestly just suuucckk. I was not disappointed, however. Mavericks 2 was fantastic, maybe better than the first. I pumped for the next one, like hell yeah pumped!

Several years have passed since the apprentice and his master, Will and Halt, first met, and Will is finally a full-fledged Ranger with his own fief to look after. The fief seems sleepy - boring, even - until Lord Syron, master of a castle far in the north, is struck down by a mysterious illness. Joined by his friend Alyss, Will is suddenly thrown headfirst into an extraordinary adventure, investigating fears of sorcery and trying to determine who is loyal to Lord Syron.

Historia
From the moment Dara of Westwood spied the Silver Headed Raptor nesting in Rundeval Peak, the precocious redheaded 12-year-old girl was enchanted. The youngest daughter of the Master of the Wood lived in ramshackle Westwood Hall, in the independently minded Westwood estate of Sevendor. Her determination to capture a baby falcon and train it wasn’t hampered by the fact that Dara had never climbed a mountain, had never been trained in falconry, or even remotely had permission from her father to do it.

Deathtrap is very much a perfect addition and compliment to the Expeditionary Force universe. The characters are in-depth and lovable from the start. You will see familiar faces, new ones, and an exploring of different cultures in the EF universe. I hope to see more from this series!
