Historia
Shelby works as a dog walker in northern California, and she’s just finished up her bi-weekly trip to the park with a husky named Pluto. When she brings him back to his house, she finds his owner - Todd Burke, a well-known local businessman and founder of an organic supplements company - lying on the bathroom floor, dead. A detective arrives on the scene. As she interviews Shelby, the body is inspected by a medical examiner, and more cops search Todd’s home, it becomes clear that the victim’s life was less picture-perfect than his clean-cut persona might lead you to believe.

Totally worth the short listen
Revisado: 08-29-21
Normally, I’d prefer to dedicate myself to a longer story, but I decided to give this short detective story a chance. I can’t believe how much was accomplished in the short time! The story was well told, well established but didn’t feel rushed. The storyline was interesting and made you want to listen. Good surprises and twists. It really was worth taking on. If you like crime and detective stories, jump in!

Bronson Pinchot is Spectacular
Revisado: 08-23-21
Classic story. Excellent character building and suspense. The star for this audiobook is Bronson Pinchot. His portrayal of each character- especially the two mains - was incredible. Reading even the non-dialogue lines with character and style, he brought this classic story to life in an unparalleled manner. Super impressed and glad to experience his talents in this way.

Delightful story
Revisado: 08-14-21
I loved the story, but feel it went too quickly. It was difficult to follow because of the speed of events. If it had been stretched out with more story and details to give it substance, I know I would love it. Faery lore and magical elements were quite fun. Love story was a bit rushed and confusing but enjoyable. Overall, I would recommend the story.

Beautiful stories, brilliantly told
Revisado: 04-12-21
It was such a pleasure hearing the wonderful voices like Patrick Stewart and Kenneth Branaugh narrating these beautiful stories. CS Lewis is such a wonderful storyteller and the narrators brought his Narnia stories to life perfectly. Made me feel like a kid again, listening to story time, hanging on every word, wondering what adventure was to be next.

Ending Too Abrupt, But Good Add to Series
Revisado: 12-31-20
Really enjoyed the performance on this one. Voices were mature and matched the characters. Emotions and intonation were spot on. Storyline was good, especially as it relates to the series as a whole. My only issue was the ending. It was so abrupt, I was wondering if I had missed a few chapters. There were so many open-ended questions and issues. Not only were they not addressed, but they weren’t even acknowledged. I know there are a few more books that will wrap it up, but it seriously felt like there were at least two chapters missing to wrap up events. It left me feeling empty and unfulfilled and saying, “Wait, what? That’s it?” Thank goodness I can already access the next book.

Story Slightly Juvenile but Good Continuation of Series
Revisado: 12-18-20
I enjoyed the earlier books in this series and it’s narrator (except for her atrocious French accent). Was a little disappointed in the change of narrator, though I understand as the POV has changed. New narrator is MUCH better at accents but voice is fairly young and juvenile. Story is mostly good. I expect follow-up books to be stronger in storyline. This seems to be a setup for more interesting action. Disappointed again in the author’s depiction of Machu Picchu. Clearly, she has never been there, as the story makes no sense for anyone who has. For one, you can’t drive a vehicle into town - you can only get there by train or tour bus. Story is mostly mushy love stuff with only a few parts pushing the plot forward. I don’t mind love stuff by any means, but somehow the narrator’s voice made it seem quite childish. Whereas, in the earlier books, I was able to enjoy unfolding romances. I think if this was standalone, I wouldn’t be a fan. But since I’m mid-series and know there’s better story to come, I can forgive the weakness and cheesiness of this one as I look forward to a more mature follow-up.

Good story, bad accents
Revisado: 11-06-20
I’m enjoying the Twilight/ Harry Potter thing. Good characters. Fun story. Reminds me of being live as a teen, gets me giggly. Glad there are more stories. Narrator is good EXCEPT for the accents. Her French accent is Russian. And it drives me bonkers. French is supposed to be sultry and sexy and she makes the French characters appear cold and bulbous. But that’s the only thing I don’t like. So not too bad!
