Historia
This is the story of an apparently young, amnesiac girl whose alarmingly unhuman needs and abilities lead her to a startling conclusion: She is in fact a genetically modified, 53-year-old vampire. Forced to discover what she can about her stolen former life, she must at the same time learn who wanted - and still wants - to destroy her and those she cares for and how she can save herself.

Worst British accent in the history of narration.
Revisado: 11-19-22
Crazy that British characters feature prominently in this story and the narrator’s inability to do a British accent was apparently not a consideration.

Historia
Misery Chastain was dead. Paul Sheldon had just killed her - with relief, with joy. Misery had made him rich; she was the heroine of a string of best sellers. And now he wanted to get on to some real writing. That's when the car accident happened, and he woke up in pain in a strange bed. But it wasn't the hospital. Annie Wilkes had pulled him from the wreck, brought him to her remote mountain home, splinted and set his mangled legs. The good news was that Annie was a nurse and had painkilling drugs. The bad news was that she was Paul's Number One Fan.

I thought I would read this before watching the movie because I like to know what to expect. Now I don’t think I’ll be able to watch the movie coz this really grossed me out and scared me.

Very enjoyable!

Thoroughly enjoyed this one. Got through it quite quickly. Nice back-and-forth between the two female protagonists with some sharp commentary on women's roles and social expectations of the time.
I really like the murder mystery genre and the characters were likable. I'll be continuing with the next in the series.

Historia
A mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. A strange collection of very curious photographs. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets 16-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive.

The narrator
Revisado: 01-15-17
Sweet Georgia Brown, this narrator. For a book set in Wales the producers of this audiobook don't seem to have put much stock in making sure the narrator could do a Welsh, Irish,
Scottish or even passable English accent.
Don't get me wrong, the parts where an American was talking were performed in an engaging and entertaining way but anytime anyone other than the protagonist or his father were speaking the accents were distractingly bad.
In some cases he Britishised words that British people don't even say differently to Americans. 'Back' became 'baaaahck' and 'have' became 'haaahve'.
The story was entertaining by the time I only had a couple hours left I was groaning in frustration. If you have the choice just read it yourself.

Historia
Famous, all-encompassing, passionate, but ultimately doomed love between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, and how this unresolved passion eventually destroys them and the people around them. Today considered a classic of English literature, Wuthering Heights was met with mixed reviews when it first appeared, mainly because of the narrative's stark depiction of mental and physical cruelty.

Wretched
Revisado: 03-24-16
Thanks to Audible I was finally able to finish this book after many false starts. It's so dense to read but listening is much easier.
What a wretched story though. I had somehow gotten the impression that is was a romantic story but it has made me thoroughly depressed. Still, it is considered "required reading" and I'm glad I've got through this classic.
I really enjoyed the performance of the narrator though at one point I could hear her chair creaking at she leaned away from the mic to shout something. I'm not complaining though, the book was only $2.
