Historia
Miranda July’s second novel confirms the brilliance of her unique approach to fiction. With July’s wry voice, perfect comic timing, unabashed curiosity about human intimacy, and palpable delight in pushing boundaries, All Fours tells the story of one woman’s quest for a new kind of freedom. Part absurd entertainment, part tender reinvention of the sexual, romantic, and domestic life of a forty-five-year-old female artist, All Fours transcends expectation while excavating our beliefs about life lived as a woman.

Life Explosion
Revisado: 01-14-25
Miranda July does an excellent job narrating her own book. I think that her voice is very nice/pleasant to listen to(sexy even!). Her writing is striking- I won’t be forgetting about this book any time soon. Very artistic and articulate. I think I am walking away with a few tidbits of insight that will come in handy.
I hated this story up until the very end. The main character’s attitude toward everything she encountered in her life had me cringing. However, having just finished listening, I do not regret it. I listened for a book club, so treated it like required reading. I made it through despite some really uncomfortable scenes. I found the final chapters rewarding after a difficult journey with a character with whom I couldn’t relate.
I hope M. July is doing well, she was very brave in writing this. This book is worth your time if you have an open mind. It’s all about the journey!!

It was good to hear someone’s story of loss. I lost my husband in a similar way. He was brain dead within 24hours of a sudden cardiac arrest. Your timeline was very stressful, sorry for your struggles. You are a good writer.

Kentucky, 1850. An enslaved groom named Jarret and a bay foal forge a bond of understanding that will carry the horse to record-setting victories across the South. When the nation erupts in civil war, an itinerant young artist who has made his name on paintings of the racehorse takes up arms for the Union. On a perilous night, he reunites with the stallion and his groom, very far from the glamor of any racetrack.

Totally worth the listen. Very good mystery with time-travel twists. Not your typical thriller but had me very interested. It does take a while to get through and you absolutely need to pay careful attention because of the multitude of characters. I’m glad I finished, it’s broadened my genre horizons.

Historia
My darling little boy Albie adores playing at our new neighbours’ house. And after the terrible year we’ve had, I feel so lucky that we can start over in this perfect place, with new friends who treat Albie like the son they never had. He can’t stop talking about the tree house they’re building him, and the cookies they bake together. But as time passes, something starts to feel wrong. Why don’t they ever open the front door more than a crack? They told me they had no children so who does the small pink tricycle I saw in their hall belong to?

Really Strange
Revisado: 01-04-24
The title of this book should be Narcissistic Abuse: A How-To. If anything, it is confirmation that there are people out there whose sole purpose is to manipulate others. The narrator has a pleasant voice. Many points are very obvious in this book, but who would want to be like this? Is power really the ultimate goal?
The author’s use of the word “victim” and “target” to describe those being seduced(manipulated) is very telling and should trigger a warning for everyone reading or listening to this. This is not the way to authentically live your life or interact with people you’d like to know. It might be helpful for salespeople of any kind, however, or polititians.
