Historia
Eve has a good life. She wakes up each day, kisses her husband Nate, and heads off to teach math at the local high school. All is as it should be. Except… Last year, Caseham High was rocked by a scandal involving a student-teacher affair, with one student, Addie, at its center. But Eve knows there is far more to these ugly rumors than meets the eye. Addie can’t be trusted. She lies. She hurts people. She destroys lives. At least, that’s what everyone says. But nobody knows the real Addie. Nobody knows the secrets that could destroy her. And Addie will do anything to keep it quiet…

What a waste of time
Revisado: 03-05-24
First, the narrator. She used the same voice for Addie and Eve which was unfortunate and would have been better if she changed one of them. Second, the story. Really do we need another “teacher molesting a student” book? I do not think so. Third, the twist. Not a huge surprise, at that. Not enough to base a book on it. I wish I could back have the 8 hours it took to listen to this book.

Not a good idea to try to listen to this book
Revisado: 01-28-24
Half the book is written in instant message form so you end up listing to hashtags/ hashtags/hashtags which can be very annoying. Much of the language is vulgar and the attitude of many of the characters are very hostile to women. What could JK Rowling have been thinking?

Historia
Born into Edwardian England, Amory's first memory is of her father standing on his head. She has memories of him returning on leave during the First World War. But his absences, both actual and emotional, are what she chiefly remembers. It is her photographer uncle Greville who supplies the emotional bond she needs, who, when he gives her a camera and some rudimentary lessons in photography, unleashes a passion that will irrevocably shape her future.

I wish I could get the 34 hours back
Revisado: 10-14-23
I have read or listened to previous C Strike books and was expecting much of the same. Many other reviewers liked this book a lot, but I did not. It was way too long. The story of Charlotte and Strike added nothing and made Strike appear brutish. I also thought his treatment of his subcontractors made him appear as a bully. I would not recommend this audiobook to anyone.

Historia
It is 1873. Mrs. Eliza Touchet is the Scottish housekeeper—and cousin by marriage—of a once-famous novelist, now in decline, William Ainsworth, with whom she has lived for thirty years. Mrs. Touchet is a woman of many interests: literature, justice, abolitionism, class, her cousin, his wives, this life and the next. But she is also sceptical. She suspects her cousin of having no talent; his successful friend, Mr. Charles Dickens, of being a bully and a moralist; and England of being a land of facades, in which nothing is quite what it seems.

Fabulous narration of a fascinating time
Revisado: 09-11-23
It is worth listening to Zadie Smith reading this book just to hear her many voices and musical ability. I liked the story as I knew nothing of the main charcuterie except for Charles Dickens. Definitely a 4 star review.

Historia
Back in 1985, Frank Mackey was a nineteen-year-old kid with a dream of escaping his family's cramped flat on Faithful Place and running away to London with his girl, Rosie Daly. But on the night they were supposed to leave, Rosie didn't show. Frank took it for granted that she'd dumped him-probably because of his alcoholic father, nutcase mother, and generally dysfunctional family. He never went home again. Neither did Rosie. Then, twenty-two years later, Rosie's suitcase shows up.

Disappointing
Revisado: 06-28-23
I listened to the book because I had read other Tana French books and was expecting to enjoy it too. In fact, I found the main character to be a bully and I did not like the portrayal of this Irish family. I would not recommend it.

Historia
In January 1939, Pablo Picasso was renowned in Europe but disdained by many in the United States. One year later, Americans across the country were clamoring to see his art. How did the controversial leader of the Paris avant-garde break through to the heart of American culture? The answer begins a generation earlier, when a renegade Irish American lawyer named John Quinn set out to build the greatest collection of Picassos in existence. His dream of a museum to house them died with him, until it was rediscovered by Alfred H. Barr, Jr.

Revisado: 11-06-22
Just finished listening to this very entertaining book by Richard Osman. As I had read the previous ones, I did not understand why many people were disappointed with a new narrator. I found Fiona Shawn’s reading to be perfectly fine. I thought she did a great job with the male voices,
