I love all the stories, but her commentary on the SFV is wonderful

Lynn has such an eye (and memory) for details that flesh out each anecdote, whether it be the chickens or her sons or Mark. Her narration is vivid and funny and poignant. Her authenticity holds the readers attention every moment.

I really enjoyed this series, being fond of apocalyptic literature. The plot was dynamic and deliciously twisty and the characters were interesting, diverse, and, most especially real. I’ll be reading other books by this author.

What a read! I was a young mother during the Vietnam War. I wrote letters to Nixon weekly protesting the war, enclosing newspaper clippings with the number of casualties, ours and theirs, circled in red. I supported Donna Reed’s Another Mother for Peace and still have the medallion saying: War is not healthy for children and other living things. This book honors all the victims.

This was a most unusual book, and very timely for me as I enter my eighth decade. The author validates aging as a worthy work and her tales of her own journey, as well as her stories of aged and powerful women through folklore and myth, shine a powerful light on what it is to be an aging woman in our time.
