Historia
On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

One of his best - not a big fan of horror, so this was great for me.

Historia
World-renowned Jesus scholar Marcus J. Borg shows how we can live passionately as Christians in today's world by practicing the vital elements of Christian faith. For the millions of people who have turned away from many traditional beliefs about God, Jesus, and the Bible, but still long for a relevant, nourishing faith, Borg shows why the Christian life can remain a transforming relationship with God. Emphasizing the critical role of daily practice in living the Christian life, he explores how prayer, worship, Sabbath, pilgrimage, and more can be experienced as authentically life-giving practices.

Helped bring me back to Christianity
Revisado: 06-07-23
I have never been one to take a lecture, sermon, teaching or other information on the subject of Christianity at face value if I am told to simply accept what is being presented and leave my own thought process and intelligence, the brain God gave me, at the door. That has been my problem with traditional Christian dogma. Thankfully this book presents a case for Christianity that encourages me to use historical and scholarly research, to think for myself about what makes the most sense. One of the most important books for my personal spiritual growth.

Historia
Of the many recent books on the historical Jesus, none has explored what the latest biblical scholarship means for personal faith. Now, in Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time, Marcus Borg addresses the yearnings of those who want a fully contemporary faith that welcomes rather than oppresses our critical intelligence and openness to the best of historical scholarship. Borg shows how a rigorous examination of historical findings can lead to a new faith in Christ, one that is critical and, at the same time, sustaining.

Articulated what I have been feeling for years.
Revisado: 05-23-23
Articulated what I have been feeling for years. Brings academic, scholarly, and historical research to a subject that is too often weighed down with church dogma or doctrine, so much so the individual is told not to think for themselves but to believe only what they are told to believe. The one-star review comments are proof of this. This book has brought me closer to Jesus and to God.

Historia
It’s been 20 years since 9/11, two decades since the United States was attacked on home soil and set out to make the guilty pay with their lives. In the shadows, the enemy has been patient - learning, and adapting. And the enemy is ready to strike again. A new president offers hope to a country weary of conflict. He’s a young, popular, self-made visionary…but he’s also a man with a secret.

It's good but not great.
Revisado: 02-16-23
In general I'm a fan of this genre, tough good guy hunts down bad guys, and gets revenge and saves someone or something, ie: Jack Reacher & Grey Man. Jack Carr is a tremendous writer in this category, but..... for me, he goes over the top more than most with his not so subtle political references which stray from the actual plot. Slamming "those" high level political leaders who failed our heroes in the Benghazi (Hillary?) and liberals who want to take guns from good Americans, etc. I support Carr writing his novels in any way he chooses. Other authors certainly do, from a variety of perspectives. For me however, these references just distracted from the excitement and flow of the plot.

Historia
Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him "the bitter neighbor from hell". But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness.
