Terrible narration!
Revisado: 04-18-18
The story is good, the narration is unbearable. I wish I could get it with a different reader.

Historia
This is Austen's first published novel, from 1851, which she wrote under the pseudonym "A Lady". The story is about Elinor and Marianne, two daughters of Mr. Dashwood by his second wife. They have a younger sister, Margaret, and an older half-brother named John. When their father dies, the family estate passes to John, and the Dashwood women are left in reduced circumstances. The novel follows the Dashwood sisters to their new home, a cottage on a distant relative's property, where they experience both romance and heartbreak.

Terrible naration!
Revisado: 04-02-18
I listened to Emma Thompson's perfect narration of Northanger Abbey just before listening to this, which is not a fair comparison. But at the very least, a narrator should be able to consistently pronounce the main characters' names. Edward Ferrars' name is pronounced "Ferris", and so are all the other family members'. This reader flopped back and forth between Ferris and FerARS willy nilly. She also struggled with fairly easy words like sanguine and indolent. It was very distracting. Also, her reading was monotonous and quite boring. Anyone wanting to produce the best possible Jane Austen should just pony up the money to hire Emma Thompson.
