Firebrand is a great book and the performance is excellent, however this particular audio version sounds like it was copied from an old cassette tape. It's tinny and echoing in places. I still recommend it though.

Anne of Ingleside is usually only read by the most devoted Green Gables readers for a reason: it's more about the adventures of Anne's children than of Anne herself. While 90% absolutly charming, there is a good 6% that is terribly dull and a lingering 4% vain of sadness and bitterness that krept into literature during WW1 and WW2 ...which could be indicative of the time it was written or perhaps even LMMs own sadness and disillusionment. Crippling this audio version is the narration. The narrator often sounds like she never rehearsed and read the words cold with one go through. The ends of sentences are often choked from lack of breath or given the wrong inflection. It's read with such disconnected blandness that it's truly difficult to crawl through at times. The few attempts at levity, voice modulation, or accents come across as pained and unnatural. I honestly wanted to cry at times. This is truly a great little book for Green Gables fans - but I have a feeling very few will make it to the end of this recording. o

Very nice little audio book. It's Aesops fables meets the Wizarding World of JK Rowling. Even those not familiar with the WW will appreciate and enjoy these stories.

Colorful and entertaining.

This is a great little audio. It's short and concise and gives the listener a glimpse of life in the islands over 150 years ago. I loved Twains description of the land and its inhabitants, cringed over his very Victorian tirade of the immorality of the hula, and was fascinated by descriptions of sites that are no longer available to see in the 21st century. There is a sharp contrast of reverence and irreverence that treads on modern sensibilities - yet that is the way it was (in and of itself a valuable lesson to the children of our age).

I'm so glad to have had this time with Carol.

Like many of my generation, I grew up with the Carol Burnett Show. The dentist, the curtains, laughing even if I didnt really understand the jokes.It was sooo nice to hear her voice again. It brought back so many memories, so many laughs, yet left me with so much insight. Bless her.
