Historia
Healing the Shame That Binds You is the most enduring work of family relationship expert and New York Times best-selling author John Bradshaw. In it, he shows how unhealthy toxic shame, often learned young and maintained into adulthood, is the core component in our compulsions, co-dependencies, addictions and drive to superachieve.

The Narrator Sounds Like an AI
Revisado: 07-13-23
The narration makes this unlistenable for me. it is a disembodied voice with inflection but no real relation to the material, AFAICT.

Historia
Orwell's own experiences inspire this semi-autobiographical novel about a man living in Paris in the early 1930s without a penny. The narrator's poverty brings him into contact with strange incidents and characters, which he manages to chronicle with great sensitivity and graphic power. The latter half of the book takes the English narrator to his home city, London, where the world of poverty is different in externals only.

Definitely worthwhile. I did have to play at .75 speed to understand the narrator's fast, English accented speech, lol

It asks and answers an intriguing question: Why are animals in the wild, though threatened routinely, rarely traumatized? By understanding the dynamics that make wild animals virtually immune to traumatic symptoms, the mystery of human trauma is revealed.

Long on Anecdotes, Short on Substance

Made up stories about primitive man and saying many rapes are imagined. Poor instructions on how to implement the actual process to heal.

Great Narration

The narrator does a great job! The take has some implausibility to the modern listener, but still a very masterful one.

Great but Know the Signs of a Heart Attack
Revisado: 05-08-19
This story was great. But Eric was showing the possible signs of a heart attack during his hike. He probably did not have a silent one, but nausea, dizzieness and shortness of breath are definitely symptoms of a heart attack. He should not have been pushed to continue, IMHO.
