This book gets into the history of the JWST, the instruments it carries, new observations, and ideas of what these anomalies mean. We review some of the most important observations made to date, and finally, some theories of how to explain these incredible views of the early reality of the Universe.

While it did sound like the reading was done in a bathroom, the narration was good and I greatly appreciated the reader's attempt to describe images. This is not a feature you get in many books. I feel like the book was a good hour of honest assessment of where we are. The last 5 minutes of the book left me entirely confused as I feel like the author was starting to talk about really far out and unlikely theory about things. I imagine was a teaser for his other books and in general felt this book is worth recommending for a short catch up.

Some books are just not made for listening
Revisado: 09-01-22
This is one. I was hoping for a lively and engaging introduction to Machine Learning, but it is possible the subject itself does not allow for this. At least this book does not fit that bill.
I imagine if I sat down with a hard copy and a highlighter and followed up with web searches on certain formulas and concepts mentioned in the book I might feel different.
Again, it is not that I think the book is bad, I just feel for audio books, it does not fit the bill. Also, having a sense of humor, I actually loved the 'human' blemishes in the reading of the book, but as others have said, it can detract.

ultimately is you listen, there is a real problem that is not going away. we have a reality we will be facing and there is no easy way out. this book stays positive on the possible results of that outcome. I'm not sure i 100 percent believe the rosy view but it's nice to get a different perspective. at the end of his book he talks off research and possible solutions mankind will have to look into.

Why we think it’s a great listen: A performance so poignant, we gave Bronson Pinchot (yes, Balki from Perfect Strangers) our inaugural Narrator of the Year award.... In the monsoon season of 1968-69 at a fire support base called Matterhorn, located in the remote mountains of Vietnam, a young and ambitious Marine lieutenant wants to command a company to further his civilian political ambitions. But two people stand in his way.

Historia
A mesmerizing, behind-the-scenes business thriller that chronicles how Sega, a small, scrappy gaming company led by an unlikely visionary and a team of rebels, took on the juggernaut Nintendo and revolutionized the video-game industry. In 1990, Nintendo had a virtual monopoly on the video-game industry. Sega, on the other hand, was just a faltering arcade company with big aspirations and even bigger personalities. But all that would change with the arrival of Tom Kalinske, a former Mattel executive who knew nothing about video games and everything about fighting uphill battles.

All this time I thought it was technology mattered
Revisado: 02-18-18
If you take this book at face value, the console battle lines were about who was the best marketer. There is almost no discussion on the technology side. It's like it was an afterthought. This book literally leaves you believing that this TV commercial or that press statement was done at such a level of brilliance that the competitors never had a chance. The truth was the technology, proper implementation and originality in game design is what won the day. These marketers take themselves WAY too seriously.
Having said all that, the book was very entertaining and I do not regret listening to it. Just make sure you have a grain of salt with you when reading it.

Historia
Human ingenuity has ensured that over the centuries, we have progressed enough to walk on the very moon. Submarine technology, then, comes as no surprise to us. The use of subs during the wars certainly turned the tide of the battle; the Allied Powers would no doubt have lost had they not engaged in naval battles of such grandeur.

Revisado: 10-29-17
The problem with this book is it reads with very little passion. This includes the reader. I got this book for a road trip for an 11 and 12 year old boys who love to talk about ww2. In the end, we turned this book off because it was boring.

Historia
An instant New York Times best seller, Dan Lyons' "hysterical" (Recode) memoir, hailed by the Los Angeles Times as "the best book about Silicon Valley," takes listeners inside the maddening world of fad-chasing venture capitalists, sales bros, social climbers, and sociopaths at today's tech startups. For 25 years Dan Lyons was a magazine writer at the top of his profession - until one Friday morning when he received a phone call: Poof. His job no longer existed. "I think they just want to hire younger people," his boss at Newsweek told him.

Historia
The technology likely to have the greatest impact on the future of the world economy has arrived, and it's not self-driving cars, solar energy, or artificial intelligence. It's called the blockchain. The first generation of the digital revolution brought us the Internet of information. The second generation - powered by blockchain technology - is bringing us the Internet of value: a new, distributed platform that can help us reshape the world of business and transform the old order of human affairs for the better.

What exactly are they writing about?
Revisado: 09-07-16
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Explaining the block chain in good detail (without getting technical) and then explaining the mechanics of those things that have already been implemented with the block chain.
What could Don Tapscott and Alex Tapscott have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
I am only half way done the book and I feel like I am wasting my time listening to it. There is so much of what I would consider fluff in this book. Talking about telephone poles that could create a multi-node network has nothing to do with the blockchain. I feel like there are examples of many things given where the blockchain is not even necessary. If I am missing the bigger picture, I'll give them partial credit for doing a really bad job painting it.
Warning, rant follows:
It's as if he found out about the steering wheel and started talking about how this thing will enable cars. Cars that go fast, cars that carry things, cars that might have 4 seats or even 6 seats. Cars that could have computers on them, cars that ... you get the picture. the steering wheel is great, but by no means guarantees the real necessary components of a vehicle (power?, Transmission?). Furthermore, the steering wheel is not the only solution. You could still have a car steered by peddles, sticks, etc.
Have you listened to any of Jeff Cummings’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not listened to other novels
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Sadness and disappointment. I feel like the book is too long and did not even hit on what I wanted.
Any additional comments?
I appreciate the enthusiasm, but the message was lost.
