Historia
"I’m James Taylor and I’m a professional autobiographer", says the celebrated folk singer at the start of this tender audio memoir. Through decades of music by one of the best-selling musicians of all time, who created classics like "Fire and Rain" and "Carolina in My Mind", James Taylor has doled out his history in the poetry of his work. Taylor says his early life is, "the source of many of my songs", and Break Shot is a tour of his first 21 years in rich, new detail.

Who knew so much could happen in 21 years.
Revisado: 03-12-20
In high-school I loved the music of the 60s, even though it was 1978 and JT reminded me why —there were so many evolutionary transitions popping out and the artists told the story well. JT does an exceptional job narrating the life of a young singer, a mirror to the changing times, yet told with generous personal shares.

Historia
Critically acclaimed novelist John Shors’ travels in Asia add texture to this affecting tale of two Americans in Vietnam. A tale of sacrifice, rebirth, and above all inspiration, Dragon House connects with readers on the most human of all levels. When Iris’ father, a Vietnam vet, makes a dying wish that she take over the operation of a shelter for street children in Ho Chi Minh City, she agrees—and takes with her her long-time friend Noah, an Iraq War veteran.

A Story that Sticks with You
Revisado: 02-24-19
I listened to John Shore's Audible recording of Dragon House on my way to Vietnam. I was pleasantly acquainted with the country due to Shore's descriptions that I found to be accurate and alluring. He shed light on the country's progress it has made with its long awaited independence, the happiness of its people, and also those left behind...vulnerable homeless children. Shores beautifully blends story lines in Dragon House. A modern Veteran suffering with disabilities travels to a country that recovered from senseless war to find meaning and recovery through children that have suffered an even harsher existence. For readers and listeners who need more joy than books such as A Fine Balance, yet seek the same excellence in writing and accuracy, I highly recommend Dragon House.

Historia
Before men ruled the earth, there were wolves. Once abundant in North America, these majestic creatures were hunted to near extinction in the lower 48 states by the 1920s. But in recent decades, conservationists have brought wolves back to the Rockies, igniting a battle over the very soul of the West. With novelistic detail, Nate Blakeslee tells the gripping story of one of these wolves, O-Six, a charismatic alpha female named for the year of her birth.

The Wolf Revealed
Revisado: 10-23-18
To learn of wolves and their lives through this human telescope is a fascinating journey into the wild. But even more intriguing are the lives of the dedicated wolf watchers whose sentry posts and copious notes allow humans to know what was before a mystery. I only wish Blakeslee would have been the reader himself. He reads the last chapter and it makes you crave more sounds of the animal’s call and a movie to follow.
