Historia
On an ordinary Monday morning, Ariel Cafferty's phone buzzes with a disturbing text message. Something’s happened. I need to see you. Meet me under the candelabra tree ASAP. The words would be jarring from anyone, but the sender is the only man she ever loved. And it's been several years since she learned he died. Seeing Drew’s name pop up is heart-stopping. Ariel’s gut says it can’t be real. But she goes to the tree anyway. She has to. Nobody shows.

Intriguing mystery
Revisado: 01-02-25
Ariel and her small child must evade the computer network’s eyes that her family owns to save their lives and find out what happened to her child’s father. Her discovery that her family’s security camera business has been misused to violate the privacy of its users leads her down a path that makes her question everything she thinks she knows about her family and her life.
The characters in this book are well developed and the plot line is so intriguing that it’s hard to put down the story until the final chapter.

When single mother Liv is commissioned to paint a mural in a 100-year-old lighthouse on a remote Scottish island, it's an opportunity to start over with her three daughters - Luna, Sapphire, and Clover. When two of her daughters go missing, she's frantic. She learns that the cave beneath the lighthouse was once a prison for women accused of witchcraft. The locals warn her about wildlings, supernatural beings who mimic human children, created by witches for revenge. Liv is told wildlings are dangerous and must be killed.

Unexpected ending
Revisado: 11-22-24
This story is well written with excellent character development. Upon meeting the young mother and her daughters as they move to a remote part of Scotland, the reader has no idea that their story of learning of the local witchcraft will actually be a survival story of time travel. The ending is completely unexpected. Was very hard to put this story down as it unfolds.

Great new series!
Revisado: 05-18-24
Interesting light read from one of my favorite authors. The new series featuring a character from the protagonist’s novel who apparently came to life is fun and clever. Together they figure out the most recent who done it.

This was a great book! The story line spanned multiple generations and took until the very end to tie all the generations together with the original magic. I definitely recommend this book and will look for others from this author. The narrator did an excellent job as well.

Mystery seems secondary to nursing baby
Revisado: 04-03-24
Being a huge fan of Charlene Harris, I happily downloaded Sleep Like a Baby. I found myself approaching chapter 6 and wondering if there would be a mystery or just a diary of the protagonist’s experience with having the flu and nursing her baby. I love Harris’ books for her excellent character development, so I am sure the details were meant to draw the reader into Ro’s life and share her experiences; but this time, the mystery seemed to take on a secondary position to the day to day. The narrator did an excellent job and I will continue to read Charlene Harris novels.

When the rules turn deadly, winning is everything. Only available from Audible, a gripping psychological thriller from the author of Silent Child, Saving April, and The Broken Ones. Perfect for fans of Gillian Flynn, Lisa Jewell and Paula Hawkins. The perfect couple. The perfect marriage. The perfect game. Effie and Ben May have everything. Success. Beauty. Glamour. But beneath the charming smiles and expensive clothes, a twisted game is in progress. A game for which only they know the rules.

A true mystery until the end
Revisado: 03-27-24
The characters were well developed and the story guided the reader into the lives of the characters. Without giving away the story line, the actions of the main protagonist and the effects on others kept the reader glued to story until the very end. The narrators were spot on and I would recommend the story to anyone who is interested in the crime/mystery/ thriller genre.

Tale of witches written like historical fiction
Revisado: 02-22-24
Petra has endured a horrific attack from her greedy step father who burned her face and killed her mother. Finding herself an orphan, she hides and swears to herself that she will never again use her witch powers. As an adult, she sees the dead through her camera and is pressed to join a misfit group of witches, using their skills to prevent the enemy from raising the dead to attack their enemy’s troops.
This seems a bit far-fetched, but the character development and war time setting draw the reader in and onto Petra’s side as she is torn between her vow to never use her powers again and her want to help the soldiers and stop the evil that threatens to take over the entire country.
The story is worth a listen and against my expectations, I find myself putting the second book onto my wish list to listen to once it is released.

Good to see Mitch again after The Firm
Revisado: 01-22-24
This is a typical Grisham novel of intrigue around an attorney, always full of great details, a compelling plot, and interesting characters. The revisitingof Mitch and Abby, first introduced in The Firm, was exceptionally entertaining. I was happy to check in with them, their family, and learn that they landed on their feet. Mitch is still a good person, trying to do good work and raise good children. On many levels, this book was satisfying and entertaining. If the reader is a fan of John Grisham’s early style of placing young lawyers in difficult circumstances, this book will not disappoint.

Historia
It's nearly Christmas, Julia Devine's favourite time of the year. She's just programmed a wonderful lead into the holidays at Sunny Street Cinema, which leaves her plenty of time to worry about going home to Cumbria for Christmas. Her mum and stepdad are fine, but the thought of spending another holiday with her awful stepsister Becca is enough to make a Scrooge out of anyone. When Becca calls to let her know about the dreamy pilot she's bringing to Christmas lunch, Julia finally snaps and does something very silly.
