Performance was excellent. Cast was enormous. Production value over the top... but this is one of those times I would suggest you actually pick up and read the series because the artwork and nuances and story is best left to that medium

Historia
Four decades after it first shook the nation, then the world, William Peter Blatty's thrilling masterwork of faith and demonic possession returns in an even more powerful form. Raw and profane, shocking and blood-chilling, it remains a modern parable of good and evil and perhaps the most terrifying novel ever written.

DV Trigger Warning! However wicked fun!
Revisado: 09-25-19
I loved this book! It was a story that I was so drawn into that I never wanted it to end. I usually do not beg for sequels but I would absolutely read a whole series written like this. It was beautiful. The pacing was perfect. The characters were realistic and flawed. I did not think I was going to be able to relate to all of the characters but if they didn't make me laugh and cry - yes, Daniel made me cry!
Many moments of the book were triggering! I am not sure who reads my reviews but there was some heavy violence and domestic violence. So FYI. I did get triggered but I pressed on. I haven't been this invested in so many characters (re: all of the characters of a story) before in my life!
This book for me is highly recommended. I think it is a perfect tale for the Halloween season, or any time of the year. If you love both traditional horror and modern horror, and those who tell us tales of horror, this is a must read!

Absolutely Absurd!
Revisado: 09-08-19
What the heck was that??? That was insanity. I seriously felt bad for Ben. What type of monster would do those things to a character??
This is basically a story of a man who takes a small hike around his hotel and gets thrown into a world of... I don't even know what... A world of his worst fears? Of constant physical pain? A world so far from reality that it's bat-sh#t insane? This story was written by a sadist! Ben has no choice but to stay on the path. If he leaves it, he dies. The only way out of the insanity is to see the path through to the end and meet The Producer - the person who engineered the path.
I felt similarly to Ben. I had to see the path through. I had to get through the book to get back to my normal life! Luckily for me, the book was shorter than the path that Ben was on. Now that it's over, I don't know if I learned anything or if I'm any wiser for it.
I'm rating it 4 stars because it was a very unique story, it had great pacing, and I got through it fairly quickly. That was a rough ride though... And then that ending!!

Nothing ever changes in Sanders. The town's still got a video store, for God's sake. So why doesn't Eli Teague want to leave? Not that he'd ever admit it, but maybe he's been waiting - waiting for the traveler to come back. The one who's roared into his life twice before, pausing just long enough to drop tantalizing clues before disappearing in a cloud of gunfire and a squeal of tires. The one who's a walking anachronism, with her tricorne hat, flintlock rifle, and steampunked Model A Ford.

I never wanted to leave the road
Revisado: 08-31-19
I've only read the books in his cosmic universe and I have to say, without hesitation, that this is easily my favorite. I loved 14 and The Fold (Dead Moon was not the book for me). Absolutely could not stop reading them. This one was the same. I had to keep going until the end. I love the road the characters traveled on. I love how Clines made America seem beautiful again.
The author wrote an afterwards talking about how he worried about releasing this book about America during one of the most interesting - dark - times in America (2016-2017). I have to say, Clines has warmed my heart with this book. I wanted to be on this journey with the characters and wanted to see where the rest of the story went.
If you are thinking of picking up a Peter Clines book, I definitely think 14 and the Fold should be read in that order. Paradox Bound and Dead Moon are stand alone enough to read them before, after, or in-between. I just want there to be a climax to the things lurking under the surface in all of these stories... I need to know if *they* come through...

Overall, this was very enjoyable and very interesting. I found myself hooked on it immediately. Unfortunately the story took a turn and then it just couldn't find it's way back on track. I felt like it tried to explore one too many things and didn't really explore anything in great enough depth.

The ending is a setup for a sequel
Revisado: 08-05-19
Someone told me Mira Grant wrote this in hopes that it would be turned into a movie and I believe her writing really showcases that. As I was listening I could envision the scenes playing out on screen. I love that she jumped in the minds of both human and non-human characters (the dolphin scene was so well written and probably my favorite scene from the story). However, there was so much exposition from the characters. The characters were under attack and in a fire situation, so why not have one character go off on a monologue explaining everything going on thoroughly, without urgency. The excessive exposition really took me out of the story as I was really worried that these sirens were going to kill someone then... Long winded explanation about the science or motivation behind something else.
Even with all the exposition, I was still ready to give it 5 stars but then it just... Ended. I was expecting a huge climax and to find out more and then... It ended. I know she has a sequel to this book but when I started this I was hoping for a good stand alone horror story. I feel that ending didn't complete the story at all and now I have to buy into any and all sequels the author will through at me to have a complete story. It's a shame that this is becoming a trend of having books just end and promising more to come. I hope she delivers on the second book and it has a much stronger ending.
Overall, it was a good interesting story. It was gory, it had scares, it had a lot of unknowns and uncertainties. I enjoyed it for what it was but I definitely feel like the ball was dropped on the ending.

Historia
For Meredith Gale, ending her life seems like her only choice, and that choice is the reason she’s dangling by her fingertips from a bridge high above the freezing water of the San Francisco Bay. But someone or some thing has other plans for Meredith, and as her fingers slip from the cold steel of the bridge, a disembodied voice asks her a simple question: “Candidate 13: Do you wish to be saved?” Realizing her mistake too late, Meredith screams “Yes!” and instantly finds herself transported to a mysterious island, alongside hundreds of other Candidates like her.

I enjoyed this sci-fi story!
Revisado: 07-10-19
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was an interesting concept that pulled me in from the summary, and kept me hooked by every chapter. I would say this is a great little sci-fi story. The narrator had to grow on me a bit, but if she's not your cup of tea from the sample, then you probably wouldn't enjoy the listening experience. If that's the case, you can snuggle in with the hard copy or Kindle version of this and just enjoy the story .
When I first grabbed this one, I was unaware that it was book one of a series. Be aware this isn't a stand alone! It's a great setup for the world and characters.

A nice, short, collection of horror stories
Revisado: 07-10-19
This is my first introduction to the author and I was impressed. This short story collection has some great, eerie, stories. I took in the whole collection in one setting because I was hooked. I will pull out this short collection out again for Autumn and Halloween season. It's a fast, cheap, and great read! The title story, The Artist, is the first story of the collection and sets a great tone for the rest of the collection.

Historia
Helene Wecker's dazzling debut novel tells the story of two supernatural creatures who appear mysteriously in 1899 New York. Chava is a golem, a creature made of clay, brought to life by a strange man who dabbles in dark Kabbalistic magic. When her master dies at sea on the voyage from Poland, she is unmoored and adrift as the ship arrives in New York Harbor. Ahmad is a jinni, a being of fire, born in the ancient Syrian Desert. Trapped in an old copper flask by a Bedouin wizard centuries ago, he is released accidentally by a tinsmith in a Lower Manhattan shop.

An immigrant story about finding identity
Revisado: 07-10-19
This was not my usual genre, but I'm starting to branch away from my usual and take a chance on things. This is a story about a Golem, a Jinni, and how they both ended up as immigrants, separately, in America at the turn of the century, 1899. They end up meeting each other and their fates become intertwined.
This is an immigration story, not really a fairy tale. I honestly did not know what to expect from it. There was not a ton of action and the story was slow moving but I was still captivated by the characters and their experiences.
I heard that this book will have a sequel. The story does not have a cliff hanger, I felt it did "end" with loose ends ties up as best as they could, but I look forward to reading the sequel and see what happens next.
