Historia
What do you do when God meets your prayers with silence? The acclaimed author of Red Moon Rising wrestles with the hard side of prayer, how to respond when there seem to be no answers, and how to cope with those who seek to interpret our experience for us. For those struggling with prayer, God on Mute brings a message of hope and comfort, but also a better understanding of how we communicate with our Creator.

This is a good book birthed from a real person who shared his own struggles and the stories of others. A book of hope . No easy answers but real gutsy challenges and focus.

Historia
From the upper room of Pentecost to Azusa Street in Los Angeles, God has used prayer movements throughout history to change the world. More than 15 years ago, a group of students gathered for a prayer vigil in Chichester, England - and the prayers they started haven’t stopped. Out of that first meeting came 24-7 Prayer: an international movement of prayer, mission, and justice. Red Moon Rising is the story of how that movement continues today - and how each of us can be a part of the miracles God is doing through a new generation.

Listening to Pete tell the story of 24/7 prayer is like sitting with him in person and listening to a story you don’t want to stop. Yes, definitely worth the listen.

Historia
Pete Greig is a worldwide authority and the face of a generation when it comes to prayer. One of the founders of the 24-7 Prayer movement, he has seen, experienced, and chronicled amazing works of God in the world. While you might imagine him to be puffed up, Pete Greig is entirely the opposite. He is enchanting, down-to-earth, friendly, and most of all, very normal - and yet he tells preposterous tales about prayer (and they're true). He is basically a regular dude who loves to talk with God.

Historia
Anthony Trollope's classic novel centers on Mr. Harding, a clergyman of great personal integrity whose charitable income far exceeds the purpose for which it was intended. On discovering this, young John Bold turns his reforming zeal toward exposing what he regards as an abuse of privilege, despite the fact that he is in love with Mr. Harding's daughter, Eleanor.

So contemporary
Revisado: 05-09-24
Anthony Trollope waxes long sometimes in description but the foibles of man never change. How can someone who wrote in the 1850s know modern society unless man in his greed and power never changes. Simon Vance does another great job as narrator. To quote Vance’s last words, “Thank you.”

Historia
At one time, Corrie ten Boom would have laughed at the idea that she had a story to tell. For the first 50 years of her life, nothing out of the ordinary ever happened to her. She was a spinster watchmaker living contentedly with her sister and their elderly father in the tiny house over their shop in Haarlem. Their uneventful days, as regulated as their own watches, revolved around their abiding love for one another. But with the Nazi invasion and occupation of Holland, everything changed....

Timeless story
Revisado: 04-22-21
This was a wonderful performance of a great story, a true life story of grace, resilance and mercy. God took two simple single 50+ year old women and their birth family and brought hope to a war-torn world. It is a story of simple day-by-day faithfulness and what God does through humble repentant hearts that seek him. This book showed me what it means to walk with God when I first read it and now, many, many years later, the truth continues to speak to me about what real faith is today. Narrator is excellent.

Historia
Sir John Penlyon is planning to spend Christmas at his estate with his niece and his friend Danby, the closest thing he has to family since disowning his daughter years ago. (She eloped with the parson, who was, of course, penniless.) Danby suggests that at Christmastime the estate needs the presence of small children, and offers to find some - the “hirelings” - despite Sir John’s skepticism. Three children duly arrive, and the youngest, precocious four year-old Moppet, quickly endears herself to Sir John.

Webster's Dictionary gives the meaning of the word "miasma" as "an infection floating in the air; a deadly exhalation". And in the opinion of Mr. Robert Ferguson, that description, though perhaps a little too flattering, on the whole summed up Master Roland Bean pretty satisfactorily. Until the previous day, Master Bean had served Mr. Ferguson in the capacity of office-boy. But there was that about Master Bean which made it practically impossible for anyone to employ him for long.

Historia
Despite the title, Dickens's portrayal of early industrial society is less relentlessly grim than that in novels by contemporaries such as Elizabeth Gaskell or Charles Kingsley. Hard Times weaves the tale of Thomas Gradgrind, a hard-headed politician who raises his children Louisa and Tom without love and to have no empathy, their lives completely devoid of beauty, culture, or imagination. Only after a series of crises does their father realise that the manner in which he raised his children has ruined their lives.
