Historia
A family of four murdered in their hotel room. A single mother and her boyfriend both stabbed to death. A sordid history of violent crimes, repeated over and over - but decades apart. Olivia Barker is a therapist with no connection to the murders. But she has heard things. Stories that keep her up at night. Details that only a killer would know. A killer who could be one of her patients…Olivia has no proof for her suspicions. But as the body count rises, so do her fears. A rock is thrown through her window, her car tires are slashed, a chilling message is scrawled on her bathroom mirror.

Historia
Chase Weston was a mercenary. Angel Cortez was an archaeologist. Neither one of them expected to be recruited to save the Earth by an ancient alien AI. But a doomsday machine, the Sunkiller, is heading for Earth at close to the speed of light. And unless they gather the lost alien artifacts needed to destroy it, humanity will be extinct. Unfortunately, those artifacts represent unlimited power - the kind that nations and corporations will kill to possess - and the next one they have to find just happens to be right in the middle of enemy territory.

Repeat word for word descriptions
Revisado: 02-23-23
I listened to the first book a while back and got this one shortly after a re-listen, but I don't think I'll get the 3rd. The story is unique enough to be interesting and it has good combat writing, but its just not keeping me engaged. on top of that the author repeats descriptions nearly word for word multiple times because apparantly we can't remember them the first 2 times. whether its filler, or meant as a refresher, its annoyingly repetitive.

In a post-apocalyptic far future, there is only one thing that can save the fragile civilizations humanity has cobbled together: the mechs. A ragtag crew of mech pilots must battle the undead hordes, cannibal tribes, and religious cults in a daily race to keep humanity safe. But now a threat worse than anything has surfaced and is growing stronger. The undead have reanimated in their own battle machines and created the rise of the Dead Mechs!

story is meh and doesn't make much sense

also the narrator makes this post-apocalyptic scenario sound like a preschool retelling. I wasn't expecting much with this combination of plots, I've listened to post-apocalyptic, zombie, and mech books, but this culmination of all three does not deliver and is one of the few books that I've had that didn't last much more than an hour

slow burn with no real climax
Revisado: 02-15-23
this book had a great premise, but the the main action began with 3 hours remaining to the story. I think too much time was spent setting up random characters that had little contribution to the plot other than side characters. I believe there were 5 characters the author put a focus on and in my opinion, that's two or three too many to give a reader a reason to care. This book has been a lot of build up with no particular substance towards the interest of mechs fighting aliens other than a side character putting up a fight in the last couple of hours. honestly if the next book doesn't have a good sample, I will not continue this series.

excellent story, but the ending was too abrupt
Revisado: 04-06-22
I really enjoyed the story, had a hard time understanding some of the accents used, but overall it was good, just too abrupt of an ending
