Historia
Austin Brooks is almost 100 years old, but he, like all of the residents of Brightrock Island, doesn’t age normally. The tight-knit community off the coast of Massachusetts has a closely guarded secret - they’ve discovered the fountain of youth. In an effort to escape his painful memories of World War II, Austin has settled into his job at Brightrock’s only school as the funny guy, Mr. Fix It, on track to becoming a principal. Then new teacher Caitlyn Landry arrives from the mainland, throwing all life on Brightrock - especially Austin’s - into chaos.

Edge—of-my-seat, heart-pounding thriller
Revisado: 09-03-24
I was on the fence about listening to this audiobook. I really like mystery thrillers with lots of twists and turns, however, the reviews stating that the violence was too intense to listen to this made me question if I should. I decided to listen for myself to determine if it was something worth listening to, especially having so many great reviews. I was blown away by how intensely good this story was written. Yes, it had unspeakable, graphic violence, but like not unlike any crazy horror or terrible crime movie you’ve heard of. What I enjoyed was the way it was written. It was so insanely good. The author keeps you on the edge, waiting for the next chaotic thing to unravel. It was twist after twist after twist. The surprises were so chilling and kept me listening for hours at a time. The narrator did a flipping amazing job as well. I really dove deep into this because of how well she was able to channel each character. I will definitely listen to more books by Karin Slaughter. She’s a very talented storyteller. I highly recommend this audiobook. Blonde Hair, Blue Eyes is also a great short story and breaks your heart.
