The most chilling thriller I have ever heard.

Everything an astute listener could hope for. Difficult at times but done in a way that conveys the horrific situation without explicit details.

Excellent insight into Jeff's real life. Not just the life and personality he wanted people to see, but the real person. I felt like I lived next door to these people. They weren't just headlines and a tv movie. This book is as close to a real life look into a the true and actual account of what really happened. For 27 hours there was never a dull or uninteresting moment. I had seen the movie, saw interviews on tv and other documentation about the killings. But this book is so powerful and real, you can see and hear the events as they unfold.

Somber but beautiful. The historical accuracy to this event is what makes it stand apart.

Historia
On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy's diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge.

BRILLIANT!
Revisado: 09-10-14
Would you listen to Gone Girl again? Why?
This book has everything to make it the perfect audio book. The narration is spot on. All I can say is it is the most brilliantly written book I have read. I am sure other writters will try to copy this magnificent work.
What did you like best about this story?
The detail to the plot of the story was the most gratifying part. They charaters were so real due to the narration and the story line. I was right there inside their heads, seeing what they were seeing, feeling what they were feeling.
Have you listened to any of Julia Whelan and Kirby Heyborne ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No. But I am difenately going to look up their work and purchase other audios by them.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes, but I won't give it away to other readers!
Any additional comments?
I am glad I listenened to this book instead of just "reading" it. It would not have had the same impact as with the narrators expert interrpitation of the characters.

Historia
Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in "The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas". As her family lay dying, little Libby fled their tiny farmhouse into the freezing January snow. She lost some fingers and toes, but she survived, and famously testified that her 15-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, Ben sits in prison, and troubled Libby lives off the dregs of a trust created by well-wishers who've long forgotten her.

Unbelievably great.
Revisado: 06-20-13
Where does Dark Places rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
One of my top 3 favorites.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes. The author takes you down a path that seems to be heading towards a likely conclusion, but then it takes a twist and then a turn and you are no longer sure any more, but the conclusion is always amazing. I didn't think she could top gone girl but she did!
What about the narrators’s performance did you like?
Very pleasant and fit the character. Great persona of the person speaking.
