Historia
Ever since cancer invaded his adoptive mother’s life, Brett feels like he’s losing everything, most of all control. To cope, Brett fuels all of his anxieties into epic fantasies, including his intergalactic Kid Condor comic book series, which features food constellations and characters not unlike those in his own life. But lately Brett’s grip on reality has started to lose its hold. The fictions he’s been telling himself—about his unattractive body, the feeling that he’s a burden to his best friend, that he’s too messed up to be loved—have consumed him completely.

Original, Heartfelt, Healing - Awesomely Creative and Often Hilarious
Revisado: 08-02-24
This novel provides a unique and unflinching look at the evolution of a creative genius in Brett, as well as the deep suffering that gives rise to his self-harming habits and the healing that community, creativity, and radical self-acceptance can provide. Each well-rounded character comes to life in this page-turner and Brett is a hero I rooted for from the first page to the last. I only wish I could read the Kid Condor comics he creates!

Gritty neo-noir

Cha is not afraid to go dark in a complex & believable plot. Strong characters. Evokes Chandler & Hammett.

Historia
Today’s leading voice of esotericism and the occult, Mitch Horowitz explores topics that evoke widespread misunderstanding, including the real history of secret societies, the wisdom of the Satanic, the relevance of Gnosticism, and connection between today’s spiritual culture and antiquity, including in areas of Hermeticism, deity worship, out-of-body experience, and magick. He demonstrates the occult roots of wide-ranging facets of modern culture, including politics, abstract art, mind-body healing, self-help, and scientific fields such as quantum physics and neuroplasticity.

Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

My daughter recommended I try this book and I found it a transformative and uplifting read. This is a miraculous writerly feat given the pain and suffering shared in its pages. What a work of courage and genius.
