Historia
As they do each June, the Foxes have driven the winding roads of Appalachia to drop off their children for a two-week stay at their grandmother’s. Here, twelve-year-old Thea can run free and breathe in the smell of pine. But as her parents head back to suburban Virginia, they have no idea they’re about to cross paths with a ticking time bomb. Back in Kentucky, Thea and her grandmother Lucy both awaken from the same nightmare. And though the two have never discussed the special kind of sight they share, they know as soon as their tearful eyes meet that something terrible has happened.

Inventorying human remains can be difficult at the best of times, without a creepy security guard hovering over Maddie Foster’s shoulder. Nervous about being stuck in the crypt with the strange man, Maddie asks a friend of a friend to drop by and pretend to be her boyfriend to force the guy to back off. Raptor operative Josh Warner recently moved to Oregon to take over as guardian to his troubled niece and open a new private security branch in the Pacific Northwest.

Very Preachy and Woke
Revisado: 04-28-23
I am a huge fan of Rachel Grant. Love her Hero and Heroine characters who are typically smart and strong, fighting together for justice. However, this story felt like I was being lectured to about sexual orientation, race and privilege. The last thing I want is to be lectured to when I am trying to escape the politics of today's headlines. For me, the underly "preachyness" took away from the story. It was a pass for me.

Joseph Ingram made the mistake of stealing from me - four million dollars. He took my intelligence without paying for it. And thought he could get away with it. Think again. Now I’ll take something from him - something irreplaceable. His sister. Collateral. But even when Joseph doubles the amount of money he owes me, I don’t give her up. Nope. I have an image to maintain. So I keep her. And I’m not giving her up.

Heroine is annoying
Revisado: 01-22-22
I thought I would really enjoy these stories, but I cannot get over the fact that the heroine, London is not very bright. She is kidnapped and was threatened to be sold to an animal who would torture and maim her, yet she acted like a petulant child instead of doing her best to escape or to end her own life. Of course, Crew didn't go through with it, but she didn't know. London's behavior throughout the story made her look stupid instead of brave and strong. I bought the box set, but I won't be listening to the entire trilogy. I like Crew a lot more than I did London. It is not the worse book I've read or listened to, but it is definitely not memorable.

Woody Bookman hasn’t spoken a word in his eleven years of life. Not when his father died in a freak accident. Not when his mother, Megan, tells him she loves him. For Megan, keeping her boy safe and happy is what matters. But Woody believes a monstrous evil was behind his father’s death and now threatens him and his mother. And he’s not alone in his thoughts. An ally unknown to him is listening.

First Book by DK and will NOT be my last!
Revisado: 02-10-21
Great character development, including the dog. The story explores the good in humanity and our connection with animals and the evil in humans. I didn't know what to expect from DK, but he is masterful in developing deep characters and intricate story lines that draws you into his world. I did not want to leave as I fell in love with all the characters. I am hooked and am excited to get all his other books. The narrator was awesome as well. His voice fit the story. Sometimes you have great stories but poor narrators that spoil the book for you. Not so with Edoardo Ballerini. If you like dogs and a good story, you will LOVED this!

Whiny protagonist
Revisado: 10-10-20
I've listened to all 4 Ellise Sandburg books and I have to admit, I initially liked it a low, but after hearing all 4, I cannot get out of my mind who whiny the main character is. I thought she would improve as the series continued, but she got worse. Whiny, unhappy, and unable to self reflect to better herself. After a while, you wonder how she can be a great detective when she seems to be clueless in her personal life. I started to hope that her Partner David would find himself a hot girlfriend and get over Elise. His character develops nicely in the series and you have sympathy & empathy with him, wanting him to find happiness. It's still a good series, but you have to force yourself through the whiny parts!

When the director of a local mental health hospital is found murdered and mutilated, Homicide Detective Reed Davies is first on scene. What was done to the body is gruesome. Inexplicable. But Reed is dealt another curveball when he finds that the doctor who discovered the victim is someone Reed is intimately familiar with - a woman with whom he shared one passionate night weeks before. Dr. Elizabeth Nolan is somehow tangled up in the crime, and even while Reed must now question her possible involvement, he can’t help being drawn to the beautiful, enigmatic woman.

Excellent!
Revisado: 09-30-20
I love murder mysteries/detective stories, but this is the first book that made me like the killer. I know, not a typical response, but the author really does an excellent job in developing the characters. I loved the way she weaved the two stories in this series into one satisfying story line. I highly recommend that you listen/read the first book in this series to get the full underlying story to appreciate this book. Excellent story telling! A must read/listen.

terrible narrator
Revisado: 09-18-18
The narrator really annoyed me. Her normal voice was perfectly fine but when she you was talking as the female lead, she sounded like a baby! It really took away from the story. I had a hard time listening to the entire book timer if that skipped many chapters a due to the baby voice. The book had a lot of potential but it fell short for me. I did not like the heroine very much as she came across as whiny and baby like.

Historia
The BFG is no ordinary bone-crunching giant. He is far too nice and jumbly. It's lucky for Sophie that he is. Had she been carried off in the middle of the night by the Bloodbottler, or any of the other giants - rather than the BFG - she would have soon become breakfast. When Sophie hears that the giants are flush-bunking off to England to swollomp a few nice little chiddlers, she decides she must stop them once and for all. And the BFG is going to help her!
