Her (very complicated) mother has just passed away. And Holly is meant to be on leave. But something in Penny’s desperate voice makes it impossible to turn her down. This needed one more plot twist, something. I finished the story, but was ultimately underwhelmed. 🤷🏽♀️

Historia
America’s backstory is a whitewashed mythology implanted in our collective memory. It should come as no surprise that the dominant narrative of American history is blighted with errors and oversights—after all, history books were written by white men with their perspectives at the forefront. It could even be said that the devaluation and erasure of the Black experience is as American as apple pie. In Black AF History, Michael Harriot presents a more accurate version of American history.

Amazing
Revisado: 09-23-23
I couldn't stop listening. The author's weaving of personal tales and his family's ancestral history into well and little know American history was awesome. This book is a great and sometimes amusing way to learn American history from a Black perspective. I bought the hard copy as well to keep in my collection.

Historia
Spanning six decades of the 1800s, this mesmerizing story is a fictional biography of Marie Laveau - one of the most haunting characters in New Orleans’ history. Part of a long line of voodoo priestesses and healers, Marie tells of the mystery, passion, and violence that pattern her life. Like her grandmother, Marie sees visions from an early age. She never knew her mother, who practiced a spiritualism so potent she was murdered by those who feared her.

The story is good, not great.
The primary narrator was great. But whoever dubbed over him in numerous spots irked my soul.

Historia
Beelzebub, the prince of demons, is bored. It's his destiny to one day rule the dark underworld known as the Red Realm, but it's sooo boring down there. All he wants to do is lay around all day in the lava pits (ahhh), boss everyone around (rude!), and maybe play a cruel prank (or two). But Beelzebub's father has had it with his son's nasty attitude. No one backtalks the Red King. NO ONE. A disgraced Beelzebub is banished by his father and cursed to spend his days in the worst place either of them can imagine. EARTH.

Bonnie meets an inspirational figure who was crucial to the Civil Rights movement in the USA. Pauli Murray was an activist, lawyer and poet who broke the mould. She’s the most influential person in the civil rights movement you’ve probably never heard of. As the series draws to a close, Bonnie visits her beloved British Museum to ask what is the legacy of all these untold stories - and how we can reshape our history to tell a richer tale about our world.

Historia
In 1927, Zora Neale Hurston went to Plateau, Alabama, just outside Mobile, to interview 86-year-old Cudjo Lewis. Of the millions of men, women, and children transported from Africa to America as slaves, Cudjo was then the only person alive to tell the story of this integral part of the nation's history. Hurston was there to record Cudjo's firsthand account of the raid that led to his capture and bondage 50 years after the Atlantic slave trade was outlawed in the United States. In 1931, Hurston returned to Plateau, the African-centric community three miles from Mobile.

LONG forward follwed by short, unfinished work
Revisado: 05-17-18
The story is a good one. but it is very short. It is not worth the high price of an Audible book. wait for a cheaper paperback; it will be a quick read.
