Historia
Polly, Annie, Elizabeth, Catherine and Mary-Jane are famous for the same thing, though they never met. They came from Fleet Street, Knightsbridge, Wolverhampton, Sweden and Wales. They wrote ballads, ran coffeehouses and lived on country estates; they breathed ink dust from printing presses and escaped people traffickers. What they had in common was the year of their murders: 1888. The person responsible was never identified, but the character created by the press to fill that gap has become far more famous than any of these five women.

Entertaining, enlightening but speculative
Revisado: 12-08-21
it's an important story to tell but it feels like the author fills in the gaps a bit too much at times to make a more compelling case.

"It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains." So begins Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, an expanded edition of the beloved Jane Austen novel featuring all-new scenes of bone-crunching zombie mayhem.

A fun idea that should have stayed at that
Revisado: 09-30-21
The author adds little of value to the story. On many occasions he simplifies and explains things that are implied in the original story, making it weaker.
The new parts are often childish and don't fit the overall tone of the story. It's a bit like a child in the 80s writing about how cool katanas are and how fun poop is.
The weirder parts are when he rewrites the Austen parts but does not include any of his own ideas. It's like he has to rewrite it just to do it. Sadly, these parts are never as good as the original.

Historia
In this irresistibly imagined belowstairs answer to Pride and Prejudice, the servants take center stage. Sarah, the orphaned housemaid, spends her days scrubbing the laundry, polishing the floors, and emptying the chamber pots for the Bennet household. But there is just as much romance, heartbreak, and intrigue downstairs at Longbourn as there is upstairs. When a mysterious new footman arrives, the orderly realm of the servants’ hall threatens to be completely, perhaps irrevocably, upended.

feels a bit like fan fiction
Revisado: 09-17-21
it just feels like someone wanted to get even with the original characters. it has some merits but the descriptions feel to filmic, like the author is imaging a camera shot sometimes, and those shots don't get across very well.

Historia
In This Changes Everything Naomi Klein argues that climate change isn’t just another issue to be neatly filed between taxes and health care. It’s an alarm that calls us to fix an economic system that is already failing us in many ways. Klein meticulously builds the case for how massively reducing our greenhouse emissions is our best chance to simultaneously reduce gaping inequalities, re-imagine our broken democracies, and rebuild our gutted local economies.

not as good as her earlier books.
Revisado: 01-26-15
I think it lacks the more analytical aspects of her other books. At times it feels like just stating some obvious facts over and over

What it lacks in content it makes up in text
Revisado: 11-14-11
The story is very weak with some sci-fi sprinkled in trying but failing to make it profound and interesting.
While I felt Norwegian wood was sexist but well written, this is more sexist and apart from the 3rd book not well written. I feel I know more about every female characters breasts than anything else about them. The sex scenes are just too much.
Overall it is far to long and not very interesting. It's not a bad book, it's bland and I wouldn't recomend it to anyone.
