How did I like the repetitive story that never resolves any thing. Well I won't be buying anymore from this author. His formula is getting old.

If the fallen civilization of the Ringworld can no longer be despoiled of its secrets, the puppeteers will be forced to surrender theirs - everyone knows that they are cowards. skip it.
Revisado: 07-09-24
The story is a let down from the first few books. I did listen to it and just felt I paid for it might as well stick it out. really not worth my time. Hope to hear a solid conclusion to the story but it never felt like it. It just added subtext and flop to a story fairly wrapped up in book four. .. so I can say "skip it" and feel like I've done you a favor.

Historia
Julia Worthing is a mechanic, working in the Fiction Department at the Ministry of Truth. It’s 1984, and Britain (now called Airstrip One) has long been absorbed into the larger trans-Atlantic nation of Oceania. Oceania has been at war for as long as anyone can remember, and is ruled by an ultra-totalitarian Party, whose leader is a quasi-mythical figure called Big Brother. In short, everything about this world is as it is in Orwell’s 1984.

Turns the Smith into an wimpy character
Revisado: 04-16-24
I had such a great expectations for this story, and saddened by it's man bashing. I expected Julia to grow the world and she did but in a way that destroyed the original 1984 story. First the mousing of the male character and his supporting men is head scratching. She sleeps with all of them and says they are weak. Yet, she has a banner on her and even embraces The thought police and there is an empty payoff at the storylines end. Skip this one..

The story is grey and depressing. This isn't an issue when you're expecting this type of storyline. I enjoyed this world and Pappa and his son's slog through death.

Historia

Then, on planet LV178, he and his fellow miners discovered a storm-scoured, sand-blasted hell - and trimonite, the hardest material known to man. When a shuttle crashes into the mining ship Marion, the miners learn that there was more than trimonite deep in the caverns. There was evil, hibernating - and waiting for suitable prey.

The Narrator is claws on a chalkboard
Revisado: 03-28-24
The story wasn't that complicated, however the Captain Kirk narrator get your attention. He kills the story with his best Star Trek Captain inflections. I was a slog to get through the story. I'd give this a pass even if offered for free., it's that bad.

Waste of time
Revisado: 01-04-24
The narrator reads the book like Captain Kirk on Valium. The store is so slow and disorganized that important points are overlooked and quickly become underwhelming. Apprentice to actor is the first books theme, really a good idea to not waste your time here because there's not a chance for a story.

In the first book of this brilliant series, Stephen King introduces listeners to one of his most powerful creations: Roland of Gilead, The Last Gunslinger. He is a haunting figure, a loner on a spellbinding journey into good and evil. In his desolate world, which frighteningly mirrors our own, Roland tracks The Man in Black, encounters an enticing woman named Alice, and begins a friendship with the boy from New York named Jake.

I have for a long time wanted to read this book. The story has no soul and is so void of emotion that even the death of a major character felt like a McDonald's chicken sandwich.
