Historia
In the autumn of 1938, Germany's reichsführer, Heinrich Himmler, is growing frustrated at the British using their regional power in India to block the passage of an SS expedition to Tibet. Determined to spite them, he plots to steal something the British hold dear and have failed for the seventh time that spring to achieve: a first summit of Mount Everest. Seventy years later, seasoned mountain guide Neil Quinn's ninth visit to the top of the world's highest mountain, this time in charge of the 16-year-old son of a Long Island billionaire, begins to unravel.

solid 4 stars !
Revisado: 04-12-18
I don't often give 4 star reviews, for the story most of them warrant 3. I have read or listened to many stories. It is hard to write something that is gripping. You won't find out until the very end how these 2 stories parallel each other. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. There is a lot of violence, too much as far as I was concerned . Someone compared it to a Jack Reacher novel , but somehow Jack Reacher is a spy . This guy is a mountain climber I can't believe that tour organizers can be that crooked ( the character of the french man )Him and his 2 henchman show up sometimes too conveniently. The last few hours make the book worthwhile. My husband and I both liked this book , though , at times we were disgusted by the violence. The author did a decent job of reading , though I wish he had put more energy into it. We fell asleep on it sometimes. Keep writing , let the pros read. 4 stars from us is a good rating . enjoy! This is one I recommend.

this is a terrible story. not much of a plot and no character development. the reader did an awesome job,but even his skill could not salvage this.

Historia
Life is not easy for the poor relations of England’s upper crust, but fate and clever schemes bring them together. Lady Fortescue and Colonel Sandhurst hatch a plan: What if they were to transform her decrepit Bond Street home into a posh hotel, offering their guests the pleasure of being waited upon by nobility? With the help of other down-and-out aristocrats, they do just that, and London’s newest hotel, The Poor Relation, is born. The establishment is an immediate hit with London’s most illustrious citizens, save the Duke of Rowcester....

Who can resist the Irish lilt ?
Revisado: 03-24-18
Listening to this story was wonderful. I don"t know if the accent was accurate but it worked for me. It was a pretty typical murder mystery , the kind you take to bed or the bath. Easy to listen to. The plot was involved enough that it kept my interest.

Basically a detective story , but with lots of morales. Parralels abound between our hero and the villain. Not quite my cup of tea I prefer my detectives not quite so dark. It is a style though. OK story.

The only good thing I can say is that I listened to the end. There never came any character development not much plot at all that wasn't glaringly obvious. Save your money and your credit on this one

I am currently waiting for my labradoodle puppy to be born. Then I will bring her home when she is 8 weeks. I tell you this so you will know my bias. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this book, At the beginning I was reminded of all the positive training lessons I have learned , as our hero learns to work WITH his dog. As the story evolved we got to know the characters a bit better and relationships deepened. All throughout though the author kept the action going building to the climax. Macleod Andrews read it without giving anything away. Yes, 5 stars from me!
