Historia
Mike Campbell was the lead guitarist for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers from the band’s inception in 1976 to Petty’s tragic death in 2017. His iconic, melodic playing helped form the foundation of the band’s sound, as heard on definitive classics like “American Girl,” “Breakdown,” “Don’t Come Around Here No More,” “Mary Jane’s Last Dance,” “Learning to Fly” and “Into the Great Wide Open.”

I love Mike but he wasn’t good at narration. The story was great, felt like I was there.

Historia
Happy and retired, Tom and Jackie Hawks lived a charmed life in sunny Southern California. They were delighted when former child star Skylar Deleon and his pregnant wife, Jennifer, offered cash to purchase their 55-foot yacht, the Well Deserved. But a trial voyage turned into a nightmare. Out at sea, the Hawkses begged for their lives as they were forced to sign everything over to Skylar. In return, they were tied to the ship's anchor and thrown overboard - alive.

I loved the narration of this book. The story was intense, and hard to believe people can do this to one another.

In this behind-the-scenes look at the making of Fleetwood Mac's epic, platinum-selling double album, Tusk, producers and engineers Ken Caillat and Hernan Rojas tell their stories of spending a year with the band in their new million-dollar studio trying to follow up Rumours, the biggest rock album of the time. Following their massive success, the band continued its infamous soap opera when its musical leader and guitarist, Lindsey Buckingham, threatened to quit if he didn't get things his way....

Oddly narrated by a female.
Revisado: 01-29-23
The performance was good but I think a male should have narrated it. Stories were great, a bit too technical in spots about the recording process yet that was what the book was about so I listened knowing that someone understood and appreciated that. I also enjoyed Ken’s book about Rumors.

Historia
Jacob Tomsky has worked in hotels for more than a decade, doing everything from valet parking to manning the front desk. He's checked you in, checked you out, separated your white panties from the white bed sheets, parked your car, tasted your room service, cleaned your toilet, denied you a late check out, given you a wake-up call, eaten M&Ms out of your mini-bar, laughed at your jokes, and taken your money. And in Heads in Beds, he pulls back the curtain on the hospitality business.

Great story but towards the end politics crept in. I’d prefer the story without her political views. Kudos to Jessie for all of her hard work and accomplishments.

This is long and could have been edited, also, I question her recollection of all of these conversations many years later since tapes were “lost”. Seems like it is 98% about Jeffrey. Interesting, but I’m not sure how factual.

One of the Best Books I’ve Ever Read
Revisado: 05-10-21
You know when you are dreading the story ending? That was happening a lot in this book. I think more so since Rickie Lee narrated it. I don’t always like the author narrating the book but this one was a winner. Loved the story, the emotion put into the narration, and the bits of music. Great read. Highly recommended!

I’ve always enjoyed the Eurythmics but I had no idea of the other work Dave was involved in. What a life! I enjoyed every minute. He also performed very well. Not all authors are good readers.
