Historia
Fourteen-year-old Greg Dixon is living a nightmare. Attending boarding school outside of Boston, he is separated from his family when a pandemic strikes. His classmates and teachers are dead, rotting in a dormitory-turned-morgue steps from his room. The nights are getting colder, and his food has run out. The last message from his father is to get away from the city and to meet at his grandparents' town in remote New Hampshire.

Good Story and Memorable Characters
Revisado: 12-05-23
An engrossing story about human perseverance and community building. As others have commented, this is a different take on the apocalypse genre. I’d like to think that humanity would find a way to pool their resources and work together, such as these characters. This is a long listen. At some points it is slow going, but always pulls you back in to listen to how the different people evolve. I was most engaged by how modern people adjust to the lack of an industrialized world. A constant reminder that the best life is that spent with family and friends.

Even Better the Second Time
Revisado: 07-26-23
Beautiful prose. And a wonderful story of love and adventure. Great performance. For SciFi fans it’s a must. And for those ruminating over what could have been or dreaming of what could be, it reimagines the timeless desire to “go back and do it again”.

Historia
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Just listen to this book. It will reshape your perspective to values based thinking. Great book for answers and direction in this post-modern relativistic chaotic time.

Historia
Today’s optimistic farm-to-table food culture has a dark secret: The local food movement has failed to change how we eat. It has also offered a false promise for the future of food. In his visionary New York Times best-selling book, chef Dan Barber, recently showcased on Netflix’s Chef’s Table, offers a radical new way of thinking about food that will heal the land and taste good, too. Looking to the detrimental cooking of our past, and the misguided dining of our present, Barber points to a future “third plate”.

Thought & Palate Provoking
Revisado: 02-01-15
Third Plate represents the next level of understanding and subsequent solutions relating to the mired (and maligned) agro-industrial complex. Unlike most books covering food farming and its impact on the environment, Barber distills the problem into a simple part...if the flavor is there consumers will proactively change how crops (including animals) are harvested to the benefit of our planet, ergo humanity. There are true epiphanies to be found in this book as he spotlights Spanish gastronomy and groundbreaking work of independent organic farmers of the States. Well worth the time and if you exist in the culinary world it should be required reading.
