Historia
In the shadows of the human world, a secret society of demon hunters fights to keep humanity from the supernatural forces that threaten to tear it apart. But for Max Bentley, a rookie hunter struggling to find her place amongst her kind, the biggest threat might just be the four brooding, enigmatic members of the most elite team of hunters—all of whom seem to have taken a special, antagonistic interest in her.

Good story, Problematic female narrator
Revisado: 04-29-25
I enjoyed the story - but not the female narrator, It also feels more like YA, which I really wasn't in the mood for. I may switch to the kindle version to see if getting rid of the narrator helps my issues. Either way I will try stuff by the author again, this may just not be for me.

Historia
The night of my birthday looked as boring as the rest of my life. Sitting on my own, trying to avoid my insanely gorgeous but horribly mean flatmate, all while waiting for him to leave so I could have a party for one…if you know what I mean. But that was before I almost crashed on the way home, when a big top rolled into town. Before I locked eyes with the hottest guy I’d ever seen swinging a sledgehammer in the rain. Before I read the flyer promoting the once-in-a-lifetime circus. A circus that wasn’t the usual garish carnival…oh, no…this one was most definitely not for children.

Spicy, well written
Revisado: 05-16-24
I only liked two of the three characters and was not happy with who she ended up with. She either ended up with the wrong guy or she should have ended up with them both, I don't really care, but I didn't like the ending at all.

A powerful, sensual ride
Revisado: 03-30-23
I picked this up because it said it was like Good Omens. A third of the way through, I almost put it down, because it was not. I'm very glad I finished, though, because now I see how it was. As a warning, it has very little humor in it. Bits here and there, particularly about eggplant. But not much. Instead, it shares the theme of exploring what it means to be human through remarkably inhuman circumstances (including those perpetrated by humans). And about how, with a little effort, a little faith, and some good friends, good can win out.

Historia
For thousands of years, there has been a cycle: a Demon King rises and conquers, and a Hero is reborn a hundred years later to defeat him. Each time, civilizations are ground to dust beneath the Demon King's hordes, but humanity has remained secure in the belief that a Hero of legend will always save them. There's just one slight problem. It's only been 23 years since the Demon King's latest rise, and this time, he's already conquered more than half the world. If humanity simply waits for the Hero's return, there may be no world left for him to save.

A wonderful silly book
Revisado: 03-15-23
You probably already know the major plot points from the blurb. None of the twists in this book come at the major beats. But almost every scene is resolved in a really clever, twisted way. It is a wonderful exploration of the power of agency, the unusual, and lateral thinking. It's also just really, really fun.

Historia
Worn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv, the orc barbarian, cashes out of the warrior’s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and an unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city has ever seen. However, her dreams of a fresh start filling mugs instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thune’s shady underbelly may just upset her plans. To finally build something that will last, Viv will need some new partners, and a different kind of resolve.

Perfectly cozy
Revisado: 03-13-23
This was such a wonderful story. I felt like Val was a beautiful blend of confident warrior but awkward woman. The final reveal of the Stone was also really well done. I loved all the characters, and would eagerly read short stories from each of their points of view.

For five grand a month and a million-dollar chaser, Roger Mulligan didn't care how crazy the old geezer was. All he had to do was keep Joseph Perry Shackleford alive and keep him from squandering the estate for a year. But they didn't tell him about the pixies.

Cozy with a male protag
Revisado: 01-13-23
I think this is the first cozy I've ever read with a male protagonist. As a male myself, I quite enjoyed it. I also liked the glimpse into the life of a butler.

Historia
It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

Excellent and addictive
Revisado: 09-29-22
The book gets off to a bit of a shaky start. When Jason is bumbling about with no clue and the world makes little sense, it's easy to get discouraged. But it keeps getting better the longer it goes. The world building is fascinating, and the author has clearly thought through a lot of the implications of the premise. The characters are a bit under developed, but right in that sweet spot for a rollicking adventure tale. The plots are well built to gradually build on each other, making the whole feel surprisingly plausible.
I have already gotten the next three books, and expect to get the whole series. I'm thoroughly hooked.

Historia
Mesopotamia is the ancient name for the region that is now Iraq, a remarkably advanced civilization that flourished for two-thirds of the time that civilization has existed on Earth. Mesopotamians mastered irrigation agriculture; built the first complex urban societies; developed writing, literature, and law; and united vast regions through warfare and diplomacy. While civilizations like Greece and Rome have an unbroken tradition of written histories, the rich history of Mesopotamia has only been recently rediscovered, thanks to the decipherment of Mesopotamia's cuneiform writing less than 200 years ago.

Historia
Rowena despises the woman she’s become. Her ex-husband has bent her mind to believe in third and fourth chances, but this time she’s done with him. He’s left her with nothing but a broken heart, shattered promises, and a stack of bills. Looking down at her mail, she finds a certified letter stating she’s inherited a cottage in Cornwall, UK, located in the Bodmin Moors. After arriving at the home, she’s determined to start her life anew, even with the news of a murderer on the loose, which keeps her close to a neighbor and trusted dog.

the narrator was so bad she just droned on in the same time, no inflection in her voice. it got monotonous enough I gave up not even 45 minutes in.
