Read first 3 chapters then skip to chapter 18. The chapters in-between will make you want to throw the book out the window. Longest character descriptions ever mingled with yawning history lesson. Just when you are about to jump In Front of a truck, the story begins at chapter 18.

Pedophilia added nothing to story

RC Brays superior skills can’t save this weirdo work. The authors choice to add a violent sexual assault on a disabled toddler and descriptions of young girls without panties came across as creepy and unnecessary within a military action, Zombie, post- apocalyptic novel. But that’s just the top of the pile of problems: your female characters are Asian sex workers or timid housewives. You tried to portray your soldiers as heros at the start but they came off as brainless and vacant by the story’s end. Then there is the constant berating of a black soldier with the southern twang as dumb and loud. These issues overshadowed any attempt to present a cohesive, military zombie apocalypse story. Most disturbing is the graphic depiction of a 5 year old boy being sodomized and the author’s character’s conclusion that he will be fine, just sore for a few days is dumbfounding. That is not a normal scenario that lives inside someone’s head. Yes, It’s fiction, but indulging bizarre sexual fantasies into your stories may suggest therapy is strongly recommended.

Convoluted sci-fi salad ends series

First two books were fun and had a seamless flow. Then book three, I felt like it had a different writer once you got half way through. The story line tried to pull in way too many minor characters and tried to give them complex roles that didn’t work. Overall the over the top attempt and “ let’s be all science “. Just didn’t work.

Meh. Where is Doors of Stone?

Seemed like this was a guilt gift for not finishing the trilogy.
And, really just a re- hashed extended version.
Don’t get depressed though. Your first two books are great and I’m sure the final one will be great too. You do you.

Held Cative in Light Hearted Thriller

I’m sorry Scalzi but I can’t imagine one of your stories without Wills’ voice. So hopefully you will continue to hire him. I would like to know what color the sky is in your world. Thank you for giving us the gift of what books should do: help us escape the suck in the world. If you write a sequel, I would love to find out what a world ruled by Dolphins would be like.

Fantastic

Best one since the first book. Gibbs at his finest and nice tie in to previous books. Only one gap? What happened to the rangers. I thought for sure they would come back in. Overall great story. Couldn’t stop listening. Performance kept you on the edge of your seat.

3 out 5 cheeseburgers. Fun

It’s not a steak. It’s a fun ride that keeps you interested. I could do without some of the politicking but overall entertaining. It falls into my cheeseburger ranking. Something fun with some instant gratification but you get full and that’s it.
