Funny as Always
Revisado: 09-14-21
Like the first book this one has its dry parts, but it has some truly humorous and laugh out loud moments as well that make it worth listening to. The plot is zany as always as we listen to Lily try to get through life, and being pushing into one awkward situation after another by her friends. This is a great follow up to the last book.

Great Story and Story Telling
Revisado: 10-10-19
I’ve heard about this book for years, yet never really decided to look into it until I read an article on how rare original copies are to come by. I knew the book had inspired many budding sci-fi writers back in that day, and avid sci-fi fans considered a must read, so when I saw it on Audible I had to add it. I wasn’t let down.
The story has that great 50’s feel to it, and by that I mean that outlook on space and the future. There’s a lot that tips you off about the book being written before NASA existed, as well. It has that whole optimistic about space travel, and the space age element to it that just fun.
On its own it’s ultimately a Y/A book, and overall is very imaginative and kid friendly. If you want to listen to a book that both you and your kids would enjoy this is it. Listening on my own as an adult though I took a great deal of enjoyment out of it, and found a fun space adventure to take up my long work day.
Overall, even though it’s only 8 hours, it’s a worthwhile add to a sci-fi lovers Audible account.

Worth the Ending
Revisado: 12-19-18
I will admit this one was a bit hard to push through and there where a few time, I really considered moving on to another book. By the end though I was on the edge on my seat, and even had to sneak a little time in to finish the ending. The narrator is great, and sounds just like Stacy Keach, a voice that works well in a military themed novel. As for the author his styling reminds me lot of Timothy Zahn, or David Weber were there is a lot of build up, sometimes gruelingly so, but there is a big payoff at the end.

Historia
It's hard to give peace a chance when the other side regards conquest as the only option and a sneak attack as the best means to that end. That's why the Kingdom of Manticore needs allies against the Republic of Haven, and the planet Grayson is strategically situated to make a very good ally indeed. But Her Majesty’s Foreign Office overlooked a “minor cultural difference” when they chose Honor Harrington to carry the flag: women on the planet of Grayson are without rank or rights and Honor’s mere presence is an intolerable affront to every male on the planet.

Excellent 2nd Book
Revisado: 07-24-18
The Honorverse books are and acquired taste, and if your willing to sit through the political intrigue that sets each novel up you will get a treat in the last half of these novels. This was my second actual Honor novel, since Ive also listened to the Manticore Rising books as well, and I was pretty delighted by the book. I’ve also gotten use to the narrator now as well having been taken out of the story a few times in the first book by her. Overall good book!

Historia
When Muslim fundamentalists blow up a key Soviet oil complex, making an already critical oil shortage calamitous, the Russians figure they are going to have to take things into their own hands. They plan to seize the Persian Gulf, and more ambitiously, to neutralize NATO. Thus begins Red Storm, an audacious gamble that uses diplomatic maneuver to cloak a crash military build-up.

Well Worth It
Revisado: 03-26-18
I haven’t read any Tom Clancy in nearly 20 years, and I forgot how good of an author he was especially his earlier stuff. Red Storm Rising takes a while to get up and running as the political backdrop is set, but once the book starts to move it moves like a the F-19B Frisbee from the book. The narrator took a little while to get use to, but overall did a good job drawing me in, especially with is military like voice.

Entertaining Enough
Revisado: 09-14-17
I've just done the Thrawn Trilogy followed by the two Hand of Thrawn books that came after of which this book is the second of that latter series. It's a good story and has more than a few "edge of your seat" moments. At times the latter two books can be a bit long winded, but that is typical of a lot of Timothy Zahns work as he spends a lot of time building up the story. Anyway this book is a fairly good way to spend a work week, so check it out.

Engaging Story
Revisado: 05-04-17
First off I will say I likes the narrators voice, and he did a good job telling the story. This was a good one, and had me on the edge of my seat a few times. I think I'll eventually pick up the other two books.
