WOW! I have listened to audiobooks for years. I am always yearning for my next great discovery. I just found it! Kate Dylan and Stephanie Cannon are a perfect combination of author and narrator. I have loved cyberpunk for years. Not only do they deliver exciting new riffs on the genre, they also create stories with hot blood and a beating pulse. Stories with characters who you believe in and root for! Just Amazing Work you two!!

An arrogant twit excited to share his arrogance
Revisado: 04-15-25
I'm no fan of 12 step programs but this guy will bore you to death with narcissistically pedantic drivel and nonsense on the topic.
All I really want is a book that aids my recovery. Unfortunately this wasn't it.

I listen to Will Wheaton read Andy Weir's self-published novel The Martian whenever the dead of winter descends and I find myself in survival mode. This book makes splendid company during hard times! This is one of the most perfect stories I have ever heard. If you haven't had the pleasure yet, Enjoy!

Really Excellent!
Revisado: 09-14-24
There is no voice actor more fun to go on an adventure with than Susannah Jones! If there is anyone better than her in the business, it's difficult to think who. It's fun studying her craft to try to understand just how she reels you into the stories she narrates. Craig Schaefer gives her a great story and wonderful characters to work with! I think Schaefer has the potential to go through the roof, and so I'll offer this one bit of constructive criticism: There were a #few# passages towards the end that felt a little facile and didn't ring fully true to me as a listener, although I LOVE the moral ambiguities Charlie is forced to wade through! Overall, I'm buying what you're selling and am in for as many of these as you're willing to write - Thank You!!

Historia
Sloan McPherson and the Underwater Investigation Unit have discovered a van at the bottom of a murky Florida pond. Sealed inside the watery tomb are the bodies of four teenagers who disappeared 30 years ago after leaving a rock concert. To authorities, it looks like a tragic accident. To Sloan, it looks like murder. Every piece of evidence is starting to connect to a string of cold case vanishings throughout Florida. Clue by clue, Sloan navigates the warm, dark waters where natural predators feed, knowing that the most dangerous one is still above the surface - nesting and dormant.

For over two decades, The Addictive Personality has helped people understand the process of addiction. Now, through this second edition, author Craig Nakken brings new depth and dimension to our understanding of how an individual becomes an addict. Going beyond the definition that limits dependency to the realm of alcohol and other drugs, Nakken uncovers the common denominator of all addiction and describes how the process is progressive.

An ignorant person pretending to be knowledgeable
Revisado: 07-25-24
As a recovering addict, it is rare but wonderful to find a book with genuine and useful insights into the recovery process. This shlock is unfortunately not one of them. This is someone who studied something in books trying to explain it to you as if he knows more than tangential details about the thing. It is embarrassingly foolish and ignorant on several points without even beginning to realize it. Like a broken clock it is occasionally accidentally correct, but far more often absurdly wrong. Don't waste your time. I would list some genuinely useful texts here instead, but this is disallowed by Amazon's review policies I believe.

Great narrator, too many unlikable AND unrealistic characters
Revisado: 05-26-24
The narrator's talents were wasted on this novel. The author claims defeat from the jaws of victory by, despite crafting an intriguing sci fi concept, littering his story with profoundly dislikable characters in every layer of the story. And these characters are drawn with hamhanded and unrealistic oafishness. A real missed opportunity here.

Beautiful voices in a dark world
Revisado: 11-09-23
We all know how dark and trying this world can be. How sinister and selfish. How ugly.
I don't say this lightly. Hearing Connelly's stories read by these three - EACH a gifted actor, hearing the compassion in Connelly's words, amplified by the compassion in their reading - It's like a light house to me.
Connelly is my favorite author because he is grounded, meticulously researched, and honest. He calls it like he sees it. Each of his books is a war cry. A challenge to the listener to get our hands dirty and make a real difference. Everybody counts or Nobody counts. Amen.

The first thing to go is the automation...the next thing they'll have to deal with is the eight astronauts they'll send to Mars, when there aren't supposed to be any at all. Frank - father, architect, murderer - is recruited for the mission to Mars with the promise of a better life, along with seven of his most notorious fellow inmates.

Really good, grounded, interesting
Revisado: 10-18-23
There are a lot of bad audio books out there :( Thankfully this is not one of them! The narrator really sold it, and although I might have explored the premise differently than Morden did, his version is sound. I dinged the story 1 point because imo it took the characters too long to see something obvious, and they were maybe too quick to see something not so obvious? But the attention to detail, the hard sci fi elements, and the characters were all Excellent imo!
