Historia
In the concluding novel of his epic Civil War tetralogy, Jeff Shaara tells the dramatic story of the final eight months of battle from multiple perspectives: the commanders in their tents making plans for total victory, as well as the ordinary foot soldiers and cavalrymen who carried out their orders until the last alarm sounded. The Civil War did not end quietly. It climaxed in a storm of fury that lay waste to everything in its path. The Fateful Lightning brings to life those final brutal, bloody months of fighting with you-are-there immediacy.

Enjoyable Read
Revisado: 05-05-19
I’m a fan.
Jeff has a unique talent to present history in an engaging manner. While the Millennials immerse themselves in 3-D combat Jeff has provided the same opportunity to the preceding generation without the vertigo.

Worth the effort
Revisado: 12-11-16
I have always enjoyed Jo Nesbo's work inspite of the effort it takes to rearrange my mind to the geographic descriptors. I am a bit of a dullard when it comes to remembering the streets, parks and landmarks critical to the unwinding story. Nonetheless this is my 6th Nesbo and it does not disappoint.

Historia
In Gone for Soldiers, Jeff Shaara carries us back 15 years before the momentous conflict he has so brilliantly chronicled, to a time when the Civil War's most familiar names are fighting for another cause, junior officers marching under the same flag in an unfamiliar land, experiencing combat for the first time in the Mexican-American War.

Gone for Soldiers
Revisado: 08-28-05
J. Shaara style creates an environment where history comes alive. Bland historical information takes on a vitality which leaves the reader longing for more. Fortunately more is provided with the subsequent management of the Civil War bracketing the book Killer Angels by his father with Of Gods and Generals and The Last Full Measure. I found the "series" a rewarding journey through a historical conerstone of our countries foundation. Hopefully the author will followup his initial stab at the Revolutionary war with additional texts.
