Historia
Schopenhauer is considered to be the most accessible of German philosophers. This book gives a succinct explanation of his metaphysical system, concentrating on the original aspects of his thought, which inspired many artists and thinkers including Nietzsche, Wagner, Freud, and Wittgenstein. Schopenhauer's central notion is that of the will-a blind, irrational force that he uses to interpret both the human mind and the whole of nature.

am OK review
Revisado: 01-25-23
I'm not a philosopher and I can't judge how accurate is the review, however, I was expecting some insight, not just a summary and listing of famous people that have been interested in Schopenhauer. Maybe I had some preconceptions and the book is very good. Check it yourself.

Historia

Historia
David Hume (1711-1776) represented the culmination of the British philosophy of sense-experience. Although he lived in the age of reason, Hume had profound doubts about our ability to know anything in the world with certainty. This skepticism colored his view of science and gave rise to his devastating attack on proofs of the existence of God.

Well writen and easy to read. Because the topic itself is complex and controversial, the information at times seems incomplete or contradictory. Fasting is a central theme but the specifics are case dependent and professional counseling is advised.

One of the great fears many of us face is that despite all our effort and striving, we will discover at the end that we have wasted our life. In A Guide to the Good Life, William B. Irvine plumbs the wisdom of Stoic philosophy, one of the most popular and successful schools of thought in ancient Rome, and shows how its insight and advice are still remarkably applicable to modern lives. In A Guide to the Good Life, Irvine offers a refreshing presentation of Stoicism, showing how this ancient philosophy can still direct us toward a better life.

Nonetheless, life goes on, and poor Gregor is left to deal not only with the existential questions of who or what he now is but also with more mundane concerns: his job (which he fears he’ll lose), his loved ones (whom he fears he disgusts), and the daily indignities of everyday life (which continue apace). Historia
If we were as tiny as ants to another being, what would they make of our philosophies? The great satirist Voltaire imagines alien visitors who have opinions. Bedtime stories are narrated by the world's most celebrated voices and written with no beginning, middle, or end so you don't stay up to hear what happens next. They're interesting enough to give your mind something to focus on, but delivered in a way that encourages sleep.

Altough it was not the intention of Voltaire, the recording is produced and presented as a sleeping aid, and for me it has been useful as such. Nonetheless, the story is a fine exemple of the ironic sense of humor of Voltaire that critique the sensless selfimportance of the ruling class and ideolgical justified war of his time
