Historia
When Inspector Kate Dawson, a homicide detective from the San Francisco Police Department, is called in the wee hours of the morning, little did she know what would be waiting for her on the tarmac of San Francisco International Airport. Air Force One has landed with a corpse in the lavatory; the victim is a beautiful Fox News reporter, known as the "fair and balanced" girl. Apparently, she enjoyed kinky foreplay, like having her oxygen supply limited, a gasper, but it just went too far...or did someone else take advantage and finish her off?

NEW and EXCITING! HEART-POUNDING SUSPENSE!
Revisado: 12-24-19
I am a guy who likes lots of action and adventure, thrilling chases and hot babes; if the book doesn’t grab me right away, I tend to shelf it till later. Well, after reading the EROTIC prologue in which a tall, blue-eyed Blonde hooks up with the First Man and is then murdered aboard Air Force One, wow, I loved it! The scenes were well-written, hot, a real turn-on. Forget stimulants! My wife liked how aroused I got by the overall storyline. Before long, Inspector Kate Dawson is chasing a suspect who may or may not possess valuable microfilm from the Cold War. The story moved at a breakneck pace, getting better and better at each twist and turn. That Author Flynn manages to keep each book new and exciting while still maintaining the heart-pounding suspense and integrity of the characters in each subsequent story is a real testament to his masterful skill as a writer. I'm a John Flynn fan and read or listen the most of his books. If you have enjoyed the other books in the Kate Dawson thriller series, then you’ll be enormously pleased with this latest one. Kevin Chambers is the narrator of this story. His performance is outstanding.

Captivating stories! Highly recommend!
Revisado: 12-24-19
I bought Visions in Light and Shadow in order to read a selection of the three-time Hugo nominee’s short stories. Wow! I’m glad I did. This great collection was well worth my time. Each one of the stories is very good. Reading them from beginning to end is like spanning the author’s great career. I was enormously pleased with these captivating tales of science fiction and mystery. Any one of them could be made into a full length movie, or an episode on The Twilight Zone. Great performance of the narrator Geoffrey Boyes.

OUTSTANDING BOOK TO READ!
Revisado: 11-10-19
It may save your life! Author John Flynn has a real talent for storytelling, starting out with a simple murder-suicide and building a thrilling tale about religious fanatics and nuclear holocaust. This new audio book has a large, grand scope and talks about the real psychology behind what turns regular, every-day people into fanatics who would seek to destroy the world in order to try to save it. At the same time, sandwiched in between the thriller aspects of the novel is a very personal story about Kate Dawson, as a shell-shocked veteran of the SFPD, working with a police psychiatrist to overcome the effects of post-traumatic stress syndrome. Everyone is rooting for Kate to succeed, but really, this time, things seem very much out of her grasp. I would rate this as the top book from the author. Very thoughtful and enjoyable listening. Narration of Kevin Chambers is outstanding.
This was a third book of Kate Dawson series I read. The first book was about arms dealers selling illegal arms to third-world countries, and the second book was about a serial killer loose in the BDSM underworld of San Francisco. I enjoyed all of them.
I have been a proud member of the United Methodist Church for over 50 years, and I also belong to the Senior Citizens Book Club at church. Several seniors in my group and I have shared books in the Kate Dawson thrillers; they enjoy reading Kate Dawson's adventures, and each of them have their own favorites. But I submit The Architects of Armageddon is the best in the series. It seems like it was written specifically for people of faith.

You’ll be captivated! Love the book!
Revisado: 10-15-19
Please don’t press “play” on your audio player unless you are ready to spend the rest of the night captivated by the interesting characters and complex plot of Merchants of Death. Those of you who are familiar with any of John Flynn’s previous thrillers, then you already know that this book is going to be a real “I can’t stop listening!” non-stop, thrill ride. The rest of you are in for a real treat! Within the first few lines of this new audio book, a patrol cop is murdered by Islamic terrorists and 24 passengers on board a Bart subway car arrive at their final destination all dead. And that’s just the prologue! Kate Dawson, a homicide detective with the San Francisco Police Department, reports to the scene of the crime, and quickly finds herself neck-deep in an investigation that involves two rival terrorist cells, illegal arms dealers, and a group of army deserters who stole a fortune in diamonds from an Afghan warlord. In addition to the plot, one thing I particularly like about this book is the many strong female characters, not just Kate but also a younger rival who covets her job and a deadly, femme fatales who stabbed Kate’s friend Lenny. While this book is jam-packed with plenty of action and intrigue, I know that both Flynn’s fans and those who are new to his writing will very much enjoy it. Just remember that I did warn you about pressing “play.”

Historia
Life on the planet Jupiter? Former Senator Mitchell Ryan had always been told the violent, storm-tossed world was devoid of life. He had dismissed rumors of a strange life form living in the energy rich atmosphere as mere fantasy. Confronted with several mysterious deaths, sabotage, and similar acts of terrorism - possibly perpetrated by wealthy politicians who profit from the current crisis of fear - Ryan faces a dilemma that will change his life and determine the fate of the solar system forever.

A Welcome Return to “Speculative” Fiction! Love it
Revisado: 10-15-19
The Jovian Dilemma is an impressive achievement which reads like a mystery-thriller but also raises questions that you’ll be discussing long after the book is over. I enjoyed this audio book very much!
It explores some deep philosophical questions about the nature of life in the universe, and owes a debt to 2001: A Space Odyssey and Arthur C. Clarke. The writing and characterization are superior to much of the genre today which seems less about true speculation and more about telling insipid adventure stories or retelling the current crop of sci-fi or superhero movies. I found this imaginative work incredibly refreshing. It is a welcome return to the great books, like Stranger in a Strange Land and Childhood’s End, which made science fiction the literature of ideas.

Someone has a fetish for murder. Detective Kate Dawson is willing to go undercover to catch a serial killer. But this time, undercover may be exactly what the killer wants. Two very rich and powerful men in San Francisco have been murdered by a mysterious woman, nicknamed “The Angel of Death” by the press. Stephen Collins is targeted as the third victim. Naked, Collins welcomes a red-headed woman, dressed as a dominatrix, into his Pacific Heights home, and together they engage in sadomasochistic play.

A Rollercoaster Ride from Hell! Loved Every Minute
Revisado: 09-23-19
Looks like several members of my Book Club have already left reviews, but my lateness in leaving this review does not mean I didn’t like the book. I loved every minute, and I did say so at our last meeting. I enjoy listening to good mystery/police procedurals, especially when the premise is so unique and the plot is so well-conceived by the author. A serial killer strikes men whose lifestyles of the rich and famous intersect San Francisco’s fetish community. I also liked the very interesting characters, especially Kate who as a strong female works very hard to fit into a homicide bureau that is dominated by men (even a boss) who generally don’t value her investigative work. She struggles to fit in at work, but only after she is on the trail of the killer, does she begin to earn their respect. Kate realizes the only way to catch her serial killer is to plunge deeply into the killer’s fetish underworld, and for that, she succumbs to the charms of a psychologist who enjoys playing mind games with her. The thrills and chills gain steam, like a rollercoaster ride from hell, as they descend on the Black Rose, and chase the killer through a BDSM club where murder and death are part of the main course. I really loved this book, and whether you’re part of a book club or reading this on your own, I think you’ll find it to be very entertaining as well.
