This book provided an intimate look into who Rockefeller was and how he shaped the world today.

John D. Rockefeller was a dichotomy of greed and selflessness. His philanthropy changed the field of medicine and higher education. His ruthless business practices bankrupted hundreds of small businesses.

This book introduces you to the legend and explains how he became a legend.

The book is one of the best works of non-fiction I've listen in 65 years.. The research is quite amazing, considering the book's scope. It is not simply about the members of the bank and those of its affiliates. It's an economic, political and social history of the 20th Century and often explains the back story to events that are hard to cipher today.

This is a great short book for anyone interested in Ford, in business, in history. It feels just like spending about three weeks with Ford, visiting with him every day.Very enjoyable book. There is as much information packed into it . The chapters are concise, well-written. A very pleasant and thoughtful listen.

Fascinating book in all aspects. If you are intrigued by history, wealthy people, society people, building of fortunes, losing of fortunes, and characters who are full of variations of greed, exploitation, charity, hope, dreams, and daring - this is the book I would recommend. This book listens like a novel because the characters are so rich, and in this I mean not monetarily, but rich in emotions and full of life. The author paints each one so clearly I felt as if I had known them personally. One of the best books I have listen this year.

My take on the audio is that even he exploited the workers in his steel business and later became a philanthropist. He was doing what they did during those times though. We can't rewrite history, nor should we want to. He tried to make it good with his libraries, etc. A man who was a product of his early life.
