Historia
Six years after four family members died of arsenic poisoning, the three remaining Blackwoods—elder, agoraphobic sister Constance; wheelchair-bound Uncle Julian; and 18-year-old Mary Katherine, or, Merricat—live together in pleasant isolation. Merricat has developed an idiosyncratic system of rules and protective magic to guard the estate against intrusions from hostile villagers. But one day a stranger arrives—cousin Charles, with his eye on the Blackwood fortune.

Quirky story and Characters
Revisado: 05-13-24
The narration was ok, seems the narrator forgot who she was supposed to be talking as sometimes. Story was ok, could not really hold my interest, and thought maybe there would be a great ending twist so I held on through the whole thing. Wish I hadn't.

Historia
In A Scattered Life, Karen McQuestion proves to be an adept chronicler of unforgettable female characters. Poignantly written, she thoughtfully examines how women love, learn, and come to accept themselves and others, as well as life’s often harsh realities of deception and loss. Skyla Plinka has all she could ask for - at least that’s what her mother-in-law Audrey thinks. On most days, Skyla agrees, yet there’s a part of her that longs for her free-spirited days before husband, child, and the humdrum life of rural Wisconsin.

Loved the characters, even Audrey. Such a good story was surprised with how things turned out. Laughed and cried.

Historia
A fresh start. That's what Becca hoped the move from New York to Redemption, Wisconsin would be for her troubled family. A way to get her crumbling marriage back on track, and to bond with her difficult 16-year-old stepdaughter. But instead of a new beginning, Becca is thrust into a mysterious past she barely remembers. A past that includes the complications of interacting with her old teenage crush, Daniel, as well as living in her aunt's old house. A house with a violent past. A house the locals swear is haunted.

Great story, annoying lead character.
Revisado: 11-07-23
I really like the narration, but the main character is whiny and has such a low self worth it is kind of depressing. I had to skip areas where it got too hard to listen to over and over again. Stefan is an ass, and she caters to him. I am going to try the next book in hopes the author realized how whiny he main character is and made her better in the second book.

Repetition
Revisado: 07-13-23
This storyline is cute and cozy as it should be, but some of the same information is repeated over and over again. How May grew up poor, her family died, she was taken in by a rich family, her husband stole money, she is trying to repay it. The details of how the inside of her camper looks, how she saved the town....are all repeated so often I have them memorized. I am a person who likes to finish a book when I start it, so I find myself fast forwarding through these books a lot. I also find May pretty boring herself, and rude -she doesn't listen to her boyfriend the cop and keeps finding dead bodies and lies to her boyfriend a lot. But the other charachters are interesting.
