Revealing, Sometimes Disappointing look at recent 1st Families

Revelations about first family conduct and their treatment of the staff charged with their protection confirm the basic decency of some, the frustrations caused by rebellious teenagers aching to run free, and the disappointingly two-faced public and private sides of others regardless of political party. Dry in places, the up close personal observations and revelations make for an interesting listen - and lesson - about some presidents and family members I would previously have thought better of.

Entertaining. Funny. Touching. John Cena is to be commended for an incredible performance and the rest of the ensemble cast only added to a thoroughly entertaining and not over-long Audible experience. Well-writ. Beautifully performed. Highly recommend.

kind of funny. Had it"s moments

Decently narrated. Made me smile a few times. Amusing if not exactly laugh out loud funny, but did manage to provoke a couple of audible cackles. Might have been better closer to the holiday season but not bad.

Great story for a horseracing enthusiast

Great story for the horse racing enthusiast; for the rest of us, maybe not so much. our story didn't hold my interest initially and I put the book away for a bit I'm glad I went back and finished and ended up enjoying the book for it's writing, background knowledge, for its sheer enthusiasm.

Personal and Personable

A very personal and personable account of growing up in the unwanted limelight as first grands and then first daughters in the White House. Humanizes the first daughters beyond the caracitures and tabloid gotcha moments . A pleasure to hear of a family with genuine love, respect, and devotion, even after some admittedly brattish, even "viperous" behavior in the teenage years. Also appreciate the sort of epilogue noting a continuing legacy of service. Took a little while to thoroughly engage my attention, but it did, and through it all, they remain sisters first. An enjoyable listen.

Smart, funny, even sweet in places.

I won't claim absolutely riveting or laugh out loud hilarious, though she did cause me to smile frequently throughout and bring out an occasional audible chuckle.
There's enough obscenities to satisfy modern tastes but not so much as to leave you (or at least me) feeling like you need to sanitize afterward. It is smart, even sweet in places, with enough funny to lighten your day and make you want to keep going.

Can't fault him for holding back

... but you may wish he had. Six hours, 40 chapters of candid, very personal, should have stayed personal, cringe-worthy moments. A few words cogent observation and commentary, a lot of attempted humor that falls flat or drags the bit on way past the brief moment of humor. I've been told by a fellow Arizonan that Spade is a genuinely nice guy, and wanted to like this book, but you get the feeling this is a 15 minute comedy set that had to be stretched to 6 hours to meet the contract - which was done by inserting enough f-words to make up the difference.

a superb rendition.

A superb, full cast rendition. I'd only known the early Disney cartoon, funny and charming but this telling and reading is rich and deeply satisfying as well as of short, easily digestible length.

Well writ. Wonderfully read.

When one invests one's heart and soul in a place and that place is Africa, and you must give up and leave. Had heard of but knew nothing of the book, a true story of the author's life on her coffee plantation in Kenya, the land and people. Touching without being maudlin. Excellent narration. Well worth the comparatively short listening time.
