Historia
By the time playwright and actor Shawn Frost had won two Tony Awards by his late 20s, he was seen as a theater prodigy—a meteoric rise that the performing arts community had not witnessed in almost a hundred years. His work? Shakespearean in scope, character, and popularity—boundless and beautiful. His own character? Flawed. And in a place like New York City, where failings get magnified, Shawn Frost finds that, even from the heights of artistic sublimity, no one is insulated from the demons that have caused the best of entertainers to fall from grace.

Over the top great delicious wicked fun.

So implausible but so riveting and fun. The writing was terrific and no one could have done this like Scott Brick. His performance oozes drama and theater and suspense.

Meh! Not horrible...not great.

Would you try another book from William Hertling and/or Rob Granniss?
Maybe.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
The last chapter was completely superfluous.
How could the performance have been better?
By getting a reader who can actually act.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Maybe.
Any additional comments?
The story had potential. The author did an only mediocre job of disguising that this was about Google and the perils of data mining.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely. The performance of this well written story was riveting. Great combination of adventure, sci-fi and plain old science.
What did you like best about this story?
The author did a great job of switching POV's in order to just keep it from becoming a diary. While I am not a scientist, any science which he explained seemed plausible enough.
Which scene was your favorite?
No particular scene...just really enjoyed the reality of the voices of the characters.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Some of the obstacles the protagonist had to overcome had me saying "Oh no" out loud.
Any additional comments?
I'm sure I would have loved reading the book too...but the voice actor on this one was really exceptional.

My ears are still bleeding.
Revisado: 04-09-14
What would have made Devil’s Food Cake Murder better?
An actual story.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Anything but something by this author.
What aspect of Suzanne Toren’s performance would you have changed?
I cannot blame the reader. She did the best she could, given the source material.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Devil’s Food Cake Murder?
Everything except the recipes; but especially the horribly contrived chapter on gun rights.
Any additional comments?
I couldn't believe it when I found out that the author has a whole series of these horrible pieces of drivel. She actually managed to throw in a chapter on gun rights along with her religious overtones and wildly predictable "mystery". I was on a road trip across the country with my wife so our mutual mocking of this horrendous piece of crap helped pass the time. Now I understand why it was on sale for 4 bucks.
