Seems more romance novel than anything else

I know it takes place in a war but as much as relationships matter in life there is too much idealised romance with oh so handsome and super skilled men for my taste... causing me to groan quite often. I have been around a long time and I have gone long periods of time without any romance. Makes me think of the r9mance cimic books we loved at age 13.

I wanted to return it

I would have but have returned too many I guess. To me it seemed too much like a romance novel. Not what I prefer. I guess it would be better if I liked that sort of thing. Instead I am listening to a new Joyce Carol Oates book. I know it may seem like I am reading and then returning but I would not do that. I just don’t begin listening for a long time sometimes as I am so busy. Anyway I tried this but I didn’t care for it. I do think others would like ot though.

The reader is terrific but the book is Chick lit and it seems unconcerned with the situation on Planet Earth regading overpopulation, climate change and peopke who are not upper middle class.

A glimpse into the way people can be lured into the crime and dishonor

I could not stop listening. Being someone who is around the presidents age and having grown up in New York City, I have naver known anyone except a recently bamboozled family member, who did not despise him and who does not know exactly what a creep he really is.

It's a fascinating listen.

This is a Christian romance novel.

This sort of book should be identified in the description as what it is. There are probably separate categories for religious themed books but in the description there is no clue. This is not something I would ever have ordered if I knew in advance what it was. It is also described elsewhere as a romance novel but one has to look it up another way to discover this. Generally I prefer literature-not Romance novels. i will be returning it. Please put these details in the books description. Thanks

Can only say go ahead and listen to this book. I found it fascinating, disturbing and ultimately hopeful. Thank you! Best thing I’ve read during the disgraceful season of a real grinch stealing Christmas. Got me through it and helped me to understand.

There was no story to this that was compatible with my preferences.

It was, to me, an endless recitation of facts, facts, facts - without any real human involvement or intimacy. There were only references to the ways different cultures use cooking tools and methods. This may work for many others but unfortunately not for me. I can see that most of the reviewers loved it so definitely don’t take my word for it. The reader is very good.

The word sophomoric comes to mind

I listened.....all the way through but found the book to be so white bread and geared towards a certain upper middle class type of young white person. Out of touch comes to mind. Also has some elements
occasionally of a romance novel. Easy listening also comes to mind. Wish I had not paid for it. Kind of like a bedtime story for young adults.

The reader was good. Did her best with what she had to work with.
