Historia
The story that made Agatha Christie famous ends with one of her most dramatic twists. The villagers of King’s Abbot are shocked when a wealthy local widow commits suicide and the very next day her fiancé, Roger Ackroyd, is stabbed to death. Dr. James Sheppard, the local physician, discovers the body of his friend and narrates the ensuing hunt for the killer. All the guests and staff at Ackroyd's country house seem to have solid alibis - except for his missing stepson.

Historia
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

Favorite Longmire story
Revisado: 01-03-20
I love this short story and re-listen to it every year at Christmas. The story isn’t a mystery, per se, but it does unfold in a way that will please fans of the genre. And, the narration by George Guidall is absolutely spectacular. I love his version of Lucian Connelly—reminds me a great deal of my father and grandfather, both tough old boots with hearts of gold.

Historia
After witnessing the murder-suicide of his parents as a child, Noah Wolf suffers from a form of PTSD that has left him without emotion, without a conscience, and without the ability to function as a normal human being. With the help of childhood friends, he learns to watch others around him and mimic their behaviors, in order to conceal the fact that his mind operates more like a computer that he has spent years programming. That program is what allows Noah to pass himself off as normal.

Terrible, shallow, boring

I’d read all the usuals and hoped this would suffice until the next Rapp, Andreas, Reacher, or Gray Man. It was horrible. Juvenile plot, dialogue, character development. Stay away.

Expected more from a Texan.
Revisado: 09-02-18
The premise sounded great, like a Ben Coed character, but story was boring. And, hated the writing style. Lots of choppy sentences like this example: Bitterly cold—the wind howled across the prairie. Like Yoda wrote a spy novel. And too much emotion. Just not buying that a special operator would be so introspective and just plain dull.

Excellent Adventure Novel
Revisado: 04-16-18
Where does Africa Tusk rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I enjoyed this book--cool main character, loyal sidekicks, despicable bad guys, and feisty damsel in distress. This reminded me of a good Louis L'Amour western with John Wayne starring as the stranger where the good guys find a way to make the bad guys pay what they deserve in the end. I enjoyed the descriptive scenes of Africa too--the author did an excellent job of painting with words.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Africa Tusk?
The opening scene--carnage!
What does Chris Abell bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I liked the way he took on the casual competence and care free attitude of the main character--brought him to life.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, I finished it in just a couple days.
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed this author's work, and would recommend it to anyone who likes Western or adventure novels, where the characters are either good or evil, and have moral codes. Most books nowadays spend the hole story trying to blur those lines, so it's fun to read something where the good guy wins (and maybe) gets the girl. Feels a bit old-fashioned, but in a good way.
