All the emotions in this lovely story
Revisado: 05-08-24
I loved this story and how it dove deeply into all the characters… Details of how they dressed, what they ate, and also of the time and place for this story we’re not mundane, but created a fully fulfilling picture. And I was not expecting it, but it unravels a mystery that I would not be able to figure out until the end! (Which Ai love!) Really great work and was amazing on audible.

Historia
In 1985, three Harvard archaeology graduate students travel to Peru for a backpacking trip to seek adventure, culture, and historic sites. While exploring undiscovered Incan ruins on the remote eastern frontier of the old empire, the friends witness an unspeakable crime. Their enchanting trip becomes a primal fight for survival. The three friends must come to terms with their experiences, and each student's recovery and healing process becomes intensely personal and continues for decades. This is a story of exploration, endurance, and the cruelty of lost love.

Adventure & Mystery - all true!
Revisado: 03-21-24
I really enjoyed this book… The narrator was an expert and made all of the various characters and cultures come alive. The detail was almost painful at times, however, I really enjoyed learning about Peru, particularly through the eyes of PhD, archaeology and anthropology students in the 1980s.

Historia
The prize-winning and best-selling author of Say Nothing presents a grand, devastating portrait of three generations of the Sackler family, famed for their philanthropy, whose fortune was built by Valium and whose reputation was destroyed by OxyContin. Empire of Pain is a masterpiece of narrative reporting and writing, exhaustively documented and ferociously compelling.

The complete truth.
Revisado: 07-30-23
Ever feel like you can’t discuss social issues because you’re not well informed? This is the whole story and once you start you won’t be able to stop. I can’t say that I finished without feeling more skepticism about greed and lack of empathy, but I’m glad I now know the truth.
Expertly told in a way that reveals every side to this generations-long story!

Riveting to the last drop
Revisado: 11-26-21
Narrated by Andrew McCarthy, a.k.a. Clay, this will keep you engaged until the very end. If you’ve read Less Than Zero, you’ll be as excited as you are disappointed to learn the truth.
