Meh....not great
Revisado: 12-02-21
This book was clearly written by a non-native English speaker and then had a poor editor. It is filled with incorrect aphorisms and similies that distract from an already unwieldy subject. There are far better book on this subject.

Historia
George Orwell was more than just a writer. He was a political and social sage who valued, above all else, individual freedom. His works aren’t just entertainment - they’re cautionary tales and red flags of warning. And if we ever hope to understand threats to freedom and how to stop them, we must learn from them. In these 24 lectures, learn how the man born as Eric Blair forged himself into a writer of international importance and renown.

Exceptional Lecture
Revisado: 09-13-20
This lecture is an exceptional review of Orwell's legacy. Everybody, especially those who would limit speech for their own political and social reasons should listen to this lecture and then read Orwell's writings...all of them! I had no idea he was so prolific and thoughtful.

Historia
Here for the first time, in rich human, political, and scientific detail, is the complete story of how the bomb was developed, from the turn-of-the-century discovery of the vast energy locked inside the atom to the dropping of the first bombs on Japan. Few great discoveries have evolved so swiftly - or have been so misunderstood. From the theoretical discussions of nuclear energy to the bright glare of Trinity, there was a span of hardly more than 25 years.

Should Be Required Reading
Revisado: 12-25-19
Exceptionally riveting book. While deeply troubling through and very hard to read/hear because of the vivid descriptions, this book should be required reading for all international relations students and national security leaders.

Excellent Summary
Revisado: 07-13-19
Thus is a great summary for the non-lawyer. I highly recommend it. Only thing I wish would have been included is a discussion of lawyer remuneration associated with torts. The professors studiously avoided the elephant in the room...lawyers using torts to enrich themselves.

Historia
On the morning of April 26, 1986, Europe witnessed the worst nuclear disaster in history: the explosion of a reactor at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Soviet Ukraine. Dozens died of radiation poisoning, fallout contaminated half the continent, and thousands fell ill. In Chernobyl, Serhii Plokhy draws on new sources to tell the dramatic stories of the firefighters, scientists, and soldiers who heroically extinguished the nuclear inferno. He lays bare the flaws of the Soviet nuclear industry....

Well read...but technically suspect
Revisado: 02-06-19
The performance in this audio book is great
The technical details and backstory are very interesting and well researched. only down mark I make is that the author struggles, and too frequently fails, to hide his antinuclear bias.

Good Course

Really liked the course overall. Could be updated to reflect current situation, though. Also has a bit, just a bit, of an incorrect bias against nuclear, but he tries pretty hard to stay fact based in general.

Archival evidence makes it clear that decision makers were more concerned about underlying geopolitical questions than about the strategic dynamic between two nuclear superpowers.

Historia
Why do only a few people get to say "I love my job?" It seems unfair that finding fulfillment at work is like winning a lottery; that only a few lucky ones get to feel valued by their organizations, to feel like they belong. Imagine a world where almost everyone wakes up inspired to go to work, feels trusted and valued during the day, then returns home feeling fulfilled. This is not a crazy, idealized notion. Today, in many successful organizations, great leaders are creating environments in which people naturally work together to do remarkable things.

This is an exceptional book that should be read widely, especially by Boomers who bear the responsibility for much of the toxicity in the modern workplace. The Me generation needs this book.
